I have heard all of them that are available to the USA market because there was a time that I was involved in representing their brand. So that's the LS3/5, LS3/5a, LS6, LS5/8 and LS5/9. My money is on the LS5/9. If I can ever sell my Focal Electra 1028Be, I will replace it with an LS5/9.

What would be the point otherwise?! I will definitely post some impressions at some point.

Yeah those LS5/9s look pretty impressive. Unfortunately so does the retail price! Pricey suckers.

Pictures taken using the Fuji 23 mm lens all manual settings. unfortunately the first picture came out overexposed I had to use the built in flash because room was dark and it surprisingly difficult to use flash effectively when not using camera's automatic settings.

Here's a few images of my current setup. After messing around with speaker placement for the past couple of months, I think the tweaking has paid off finally. Getting convincing and pleasing sound stage width, depth and height and stable detailed imaging. It's been tricky in this room, that's for sure.

    Anyway, on with the pics...

Finally got some good light on this beautiful Sunday morning (around 10 AM)...

Lots of things have changed since I last posted a pic of my room, most of which happened in a big renovation last summer that I had planned for over two years now.

    • Painted the whole room. Schöner Wohnen Polarweiss and GTI Munsell N8 as an accent.
    • Redid the entire lighting, I now have a cheap dimmable 100W bicolor LED panel for an efficent light and 10x35W Solux 4700k 12V halogen bulbs for when I want good quality light.
    • Added a split type air conditioner since it tends to get toasty in here in the summer.
    • Since we ran a wire for the air conditioner anyway I added an extra wire for my audio system. This is connected to a different phase of our electrical grid within the house, the one with the least crap connected. This is especially important when you have lots of LED lights and run CRTs and Plasma TVs. Only one wire from the breaker directly to the outlet. I do hear a difference between the two circuits.
    • Built two 2x4 Kallax shelves. They are a perfect fit to within 2mm for my room, so I just had to get them.
    • Built a Lack rack for my audio equipment.
    • We moved my dad's (now) secondary TT upstairs to my room. There's no space for two TTs in the listening room and it sounds absolutely fantastic in this rig.

After that I also finally added absorbers to my walls to replace the temporary solution of old blankets and sheep skin. 2x 7cm thick, 50x100cm Basotect G+ absorbers with no air gap. I figured 7cm would be thick enough since these are OBs with less radiation towards the walls in the lower midrange. The measurements I posted here suggest that this is true.

I stopped playing the guitar a couple years ago, but I got my guitars back out and I'm looking forward to playing again after the exams. I know, I'm making excuses.

I finished the speakers. Well, they will never be truly finished, but this is how I had planned them. The H-frames are now wooden, too :p. They definitely sound better this way. The angled woofer baffle especially helped making the imaging more cohesive, by "opening up" the sound of the widebanders.

A month ago I got the TV that I'd been eyeing ever since I got my FW900 monitor, the Pioneer Kuro KRP 500M. I could've gotten an entry level 55" 4k HDR LCD for the price I paid, but frankly I think I'm much happier this way. In the two areas that are most important to me - black levels and motion clarity - the Kuro is hard to beat. I did a basic black level adjustment, greyscale, white luminance and gamma calibration (I like to keep it in between sRGB and 2.4) for the pure mode, but nothing more so far. The full black-white contrast is a bit worse than on my Iiyama HM204DT-A CRT that I got to replace my still broken FW900, but ANSI contrast is much better. Black bars in movies are indistinguishable from black even in very dark scenes. Even the ISF Day mode (which I haven't calibrated yet and still has a noticeable grey glow in a dark room) measures in at less than 0.0001 nits according to my DTP94. Colors and motion clarity are almost as good as the CRTs. The main downsides are crappy black levels in the daytime and (more importantly) that the panel buzzes slightly.

Got a G305 and Anne Pro 2 (box white switches) for my speaker rig since I wanted something wireless that doesn't suck. They both tick these boxes. I like to lie on my couch with the feet on the Lack, the keyboard on my lap and the mouse on the couch. I wanted the TV at eye level - 93cm for the center of the screen in my case, so the tonearm wire is in front of the screen for 16:9 content. I hate it when TVs are too high, so this was the better compromise for me. For 21:9 content it's no longer in the picture.

I spent some time managing my cables, so here's what it looks like from behind. The two power strips are connected to the two different electrical circuits. I decided to keep my Xbox 360 since I sometimes still play games with some of my friends on it. The most important upgrades in the near future will be better speaker cables and hopefully a better sounding power strip. Maybe better cable risers, too.

    ^ I approve.

Sure the Voxativs were pricey, but that driver has the single most important role of any component. Everything says I am not spending beyond my means and my room shall not look like a rape dungeon. And Ikea Kallax and Lack for the win.

    Nicely done.

TV in listening room destroy musical vibe. Project blue light disturb sleep. EMI add noise tube input stage. NOT allow.

True that but worth it. For a sec there I thought those OBs on that picture you posted were some new PAP from Israel. All in all, agreed, nicely done.

Ok, a couple more and I'll stop pics-for-clicks 'like' whoring myself.

Bburago 250 GTO models and doggo chew toys are the new magic pebbles. Kinda like mom's teddy bear collection. It's all about the Big D ambiance. And electric space heaters.

@yotacowboy it can’t have true Big D ambiance unless there’s a Modi sitting on top of that Freya.

Very cool rack. Looks like granite or some other stone.
