According to the press release for the 1500C, the tonearm raises at the end of the record. There is no auto return of the arm. And the auto raise function can be turned off. I would guess that this is not a mechanical system but maybe done with some type of photo sensing system so there is no drag on the tonearm. Should also hopefully have a mute circuit to eliminate any noise when the tonearm leaves the record.

Unless there's some sort of upward ramp at the center of the record swing, I don't see how a mechanism couldn't be involved. Would be curious to learn more

    Miniature graviton generator.

BTW, there's no drag on the tonearm with mechanical lifters. As far a mute circuit, maybe a record flipper too, and sensor to shut off my tube gear if I fall asleep, and a slave to put my records back into the sleeves and on the shelf. Anything to make life easier so that turntables can be more approachable to the lazy and inattentive.

Denon & Pioneer both make pro DJ analog tables.

I think those are Hanpin tables...just slightly overbuilt to accommodate DJ's.

Interestingly enough current pricing on these tables are pretty close to the originals when first released once you factor in inflation.
