Tried watching this, hoping to get a feel for the show. I had to stop as it's edited like a modern music videos and the camera cuts every 0.5 - 2 seconds were making me dizzy and afraid I was going to have an epileptic seizure. Practically impossible to appreciate the choreography. And a bunch of CGI added on top, mirroring the stage effects as well. This is a "documentary"?

She can shake if off like a blond haired stick figure with an attitude.

You have a fair point. The "super cut" style of editing is sometimes so confusing and annoying that you stop watching voluntarily, no words. The sense of narrative is gone, everything becomes fast, faster, fastest without context. Take a breather and enjoy some real music, not super cut B.S.

    She's plain as f**k, IMO.

And making a million bucks a day shaking an ass she don't even have. Someone is buying it. I enjoy her song-writing and singing quite a lot, but I can't sit through the vids.

I managed to get through the rest of it the next day. The editing in some of the songs wasn't as choppy. Some of her chats between songs was a bit OTT and it sounded like she was singing along to her recorded self for much of it. Could have been quite a good concert film in someone else's hands. But I guess I'm not the target demographic, and "kids" these days like to be machine-gunned with image overload until their brains expode.

At least she's got her hair flipping down to a minimum!

Having never listened to anything by Taylor Swift, I pulled up the concert you listed above. That was the biggest 15 seconds wasted of my life.

We won’t get another “Sledgehammer” or “money for nothing” music video any time soon. That time is gone.

I still want my MTV. And I like her latest 3 records.

Really can't get away from that with many concern videos. They'll have a dozen cameras and the director goes apeshit ADD. Here's a vid from Sarah Maclachlan's Mirrorball back in the VHS days. Most of the cuts are annoying.

Concert videos with less cameras are often better because the directors are constrained from going full ADD.

Here's a modern one from Number Girl, still ADD, a cut every 3 seconds, but the cuts are better. Part of it is because these guys are four member band instead of Swift and her retinue of six dozen sidekicks.

I love Taylor Swift, but haven’t watched this. I like the Reputation tour show and Miss Americana, each on Netflix. Folklore Long Pond Sessions on Disney+ is sweet too.

Holy Necro, Batman! If totally forgotten about this.

This is what I was referring to. The fan made Red Tour "DVD" is a way better watch than official 1989 production.

This is easily watchable. Not ADD at all IMO.

Funny story. Check out the “live” video of “Barcelona”. Fast cuts made it possible!

Why you ask? Because the director seemingly drove the live performance faster, the sound was suboptimally recorded… so they had to splice everything together against the studio recording, and to make the timing match, they had to cut and dissolve in bursts. Freddie’s final live performance, saved forever. He did not get to sing the song for the ‘92 Olympics ceremonies.

Compare with the “traditional” video (now in 4K, with remixed orchestra):

p.s. I remember, thou I can’t find evidence of, José Carreras and Montserrat Caballé performing at the opening of the Olympics. I have found the medley with Domingo and others. Am I suffering from the Mandela effect?

A lot of it is because Swift's music got worse. I bought her first three albums. Streamed a few maybe two years ago. She loves money more than art now.

1989 and folklore share the number 1 spot on my list of Best TSwift albums, each for very different reasons (a friend has been bugging me for a very long time now to finally listen to evermore, but frankly I get musician-fatigue very easily and would rather listen to what I know I like instead of checking something new out ninety five times out of a hundred), but the next few spots are definitely more populated by her older work, e.g. Speak Now and Red.

I only a few seconds ago learned she had an album come out in August 2022 and cannot for the life of me be bothered to stream it. The general trend is she seems to be homogenising with a lot of other recent releases.

Some artists do much better live than in the studio and, speaking as a dude who listens to a lot of TSwift, I have never once sat down and chosen to watch her live recordings because, from what I have seen, they're not really all that enthralling.
