I am considering adding an ECP amp to the acoustic lab inventory. Narrowed down to the two models listed. I am looking for interest levels between the two. If you were able to visit a meet where one of these fine amps were available for audition, which would interest you the most?

Poll to close sometime Feb 5 whenever I have enjoyed a few glasses of beverage of the day.

I'm more interested in the DSHA3F, but I think the T4 makes a better reference point for hive mind awareness.

Don't listen to the crazy Canuck though.

    Voted 3F but ordered a T4.

    Does that make sense?

One is the amp I want to hear once, the other one the amp I want to own.

Voted T4, largely because the 3F is balanced only and if you want guests to be able to use their headphone of choice the SE majority won't work. If it's a synergy/captive headphone type thing then 3F.

T4 for usability (3F is balanced in and balanced out only) and availability. No sense having a reference when it's only made in small Kentucky batches only when the moonshine is right.

Besides measuring the T4 with different tubes might be fun. All of Doug's stuff is bespoke, but T4 is less so.

T4. I don't have the funds now, but it's possible that it's a tube hybrid that I might like. To me it doesn't make sense to get a better SS when I can have a killer tube amp that could play nice with almost all of my stuff.

3F. I'm sick of tubes, the tube market, and the extra costs.

3F’s all-around competencies win me over.

I know you know this, but I added a comma above to be explicit: The 3F is balanced out only, but it is fine with single ended inputs. One just needs an RCA to XLR adapter.

Good to see that the voices in my head arguing pros and cons are mirrored by others. All excellent points.

3F would require babysitting when others allowed to use. Some chucklehead with a 4-pin plug on a 3-wire headphone or a 4 to 3 adapter might let the magic smoke out. So captive or limited headphones only.

Both good and bad. I and others may find this interesting but then it brings up the question of "which version / vintage / vestigial virgin handling" of the tubes. More nervosa. However greater availability and lower cost is an incredibly compelling point.

And there we have the elimination of the deadly Vs enumerated above. Unless we extend the deadly Vs nervosa to components date of manufacture, vendor, shipping routes across the oceans, etc.

This appeals to my inner selfish late night listening. Also an incredibly compelling point.

Heads DSHA3F, tails T4. It landed tails.
And consultation with Sir Sidney Fudd whilst a happy prisoner of an unhappy state chose T4.

The preponderance of evidence would suggest T4, so T4 it is. Of course measurements will be made though I am six or seven measurement posts behind. Lots of data, limited posting time and the technical measurements posts require 1 to 4 hours depending on amount of data to present.
