Your choice of walnut, sapele (used on the T4,) and padauk.

I can also honor personal requests to an extent - some things (teak) would require an upcharge, some things (ebony) are endangered and I don't work with them because of that, and some things (wenge, ipe, lacewood) are so miserable that I really don't want to work with them. The three main choices all look good and are decent to work with.

Here's where I source most wood (except walnut which comes from a specialty place on the west coast for figured pieces): http://parkervillewoodproducts.com/pricing/ Keep in mind that they typically do not sell small samples, so if you want something that costs $50/bf*, I might have to buy 6 to 10bf at minimum.

    * wood is sold by the board-foot which is 12"x12"x1"

after reading Doug's update on "wood", @Elnrik just got a huge boner and should be given the BWC tag for at least the next two weeks. Thanks @zerodeefex for applying when possible.

I can neither confirm or deny that I immediately "got a huge boner" upon receiving this news from @dsavitsk. I also cannot comment on the large new dent on the underside of my desk at work or my current inability to stand up.

I have some Bolivian Rosewood sitting at home I was trying to find a project for...

Sure, we'll watch the movie 'Heat' beforehand to prepare. That's the one where they get away with it right?

According to the 'Big Book of Bank-Robbing':

Step One: Do NOT post any information about upcoming heist activity on the internet.

Step Two: Calmly point the thread back in the direction of the Ravenswood 3F

@MisterRogers was kind enough to loan me his ECP DSHA Ravenswood 3F - from here on referred to as the 3F - and I wanted to give my experience and thoughts on it.

Chain: Tidal > Gungnir multibit A2 > amps > ZMF Auteur.

    IMG_20190224_134939.jpg

A word on my preferences - I listen to a lot of Blues, Metal, and Electonic music. I'm kind of sensitive to treble and prefer less bright gear. My favorite amp is the Eddy Current Black Widow 2.

For my impressions, I will be comparing the 3F to the BW2, which I feel is a pretty good apples to apples shootout.

The 3F has gorgeous padauk panels. It's a nice and clean looking amp with a volume knob and XLR along the front, and a warm yellow lit ECP logo up top. This model has the amorphous transformer, not the nickle core transformer.

The sound is, in a word, fantastic. It is one of the cleanest and most resolving SS amps I've ever heard. The BW2 is no slouch either, but the 3F takes it in a more neutral direction with less coloration. Where the BW2 is a wonderfully warmer sound, the 3F presents a more dynamic and even sound without giving an inch in musicality. The 3F bass is more even and seems very textured when the song calls for it. The mids are a touch more defined and clear, if a little less present than the BW2. The treble seems more energetic, crisp, and detailed. Staging has a great presentation in width and spacing, but might not be quite as deep as some amps I've heard, like the comparison @jexby and @purr1n made with EC AF earlier. I feel the BW2 does get edged out a little in this category, but not by much.

I don't get too excited about amps anymore. I have the BW2, I love it, nothing I've heard sounds better unless you can stick megabuck/unobtanium tubes into it, which usually means it will end up being 3 to 4 times the total cost of my BW2, and that doesn't appeal to me.

Then I heard the 3F. It arrived on a Friday, if memory serves, and I got to really sit down and listen to it Sunday night. I was up till 2:30am. Monday and Tuesday I was up till 1:30am, just listening to music. I managed to pull myself away from it before midnight on Wednesday, a feat I attribute more towards exhaustion than personal willpower. When you have to get up at 6:00am for work, life really starts to suck when your running on 3-4 hours of sleep for 4 days straight. I blame the 3F and, guilty by association, @dsavitsk.

    (Shakes fist at the sky)

    Damn you, Sir. Damn you.

    :p
