FS: Almarro A318B integrated amplifier

For sale is my Almarro A318b. Fully integrated amp with preamp and 3 selectable inputs, for your TT, DAC, and second DAC or TT. Nice soundstage on this thing. And more detailed than an EAR 868 + EAR 890 combo with memed tubes (seriously).

18W in Class A at 1V input into 8 Ohm.

Tubes are included: 2 Russian 6C33C-B, 1 Fivre 6SL7, 1 Fivre 6SN7 (cathode follower). If you like a sweeter sound, we can swap out a Fivre for a Marconi. I've also got a Hytron 6SL7 which is a clean sound. I like it and the Fivre for soundstage, speed, and tonality. The Hytron is close in all areas, with perhaps a tad more kick.

The unit sounds great as is, and is currently stock / unmodded. With its point to point wiring, it could also be a tweaker's paradise. Possible mods include:

1. Rolling 6SL7 tubes
2. Rolling 6SN7 tubes
3. Rolling feet.
4. Swapping the stock coupling caps for Jupiters. (Available at extra cost)
5. Mass loading with concrete.
6. Rolling output transformers.
7. Rewiring the entire unit.
8. Rolling the pot.
9. Bypassing the preamp section.
10. Replacing the knobs with vintage Bakelite knobs.
11. Replacing the stock wood chassis panels with quarter-sawn Cocobolo.
12. Resistor rolling.
13. RCA chassis connector rolling.
14. Speaker binding post rolling.
15. Listening with headphones.

The possibilities are endless.

The unit is in excellent condition, and works and sounds great. Never modded to date, and quite honestly, I never felt tempted to mod. The Jupiters are probably going to be an improvement, but I never got around to it. Notice the aesthetic chip in the wood on the top front right corner. The original owner sold it to me that way. It could be glued and clamped, but I never bothered. As noted, the pictured Jupiter caps are extra. They're unused.

God damn, if I didn’t just pick up @dBel84’s Klout, I’d be all over this.

Sooo want to try some BLHs, and that Fivre combo makes this a super-steal if they did as much for this as they did for the ZDS.

 

The Fivre tubes are the best I've found. I went straight to them for this amp. And you're right.... this is a cheap ass price. If I list it on Agon, it'll be for at least a couple hundred higher, or I'll sell it there with $25 Sylvanias.

 

This is still available. I'm actually surprised as this amp has a sound that is very popular 'round here. I would like to see it go to a SBAFer but if not, I'll probably toss it up on A'gon this weekend as I've got to fund other audio escapades....

Why hasn't this sold yet? Are there no sane and reasonable people left? Do you guys even like music? Baz has a family to feed and all you guys are discussing blind testing dacs and zmf headphones. Stop being so selfish and buy this damn amp already. Wont find a better deal - costs less than flavor of the month headphone and a whole lot more fun.
