Shure SRH1540? Good reputation around here. Never really had the times to listen to it for an extended amount of proper sessions but its comfort is good; something that quite often got overlooked when looking for headphones.

At a lower price point, Oppo PM-3 also seems to be mentioned a lot by the folks; I don't have any personal experience listening to it for now.

and... NAD VISO HP50 is a very, very strong contender for a closed headphones that won't break the bank IMO. I've listened to it couple of times at meets and oh my gosh I love that headphones, and this comes from someone who usually prefer a brighter presentation of music.

Is there a huge difference between the Enigma and the Paradox that warrants the $400 jump? If I were to get a pair what kind of amp/dac would I need to pair it with to get the best sound quality?

I will have to see if I can find someone with these in my area to demo them.

Can you link me to some charts?

The Enigma is made with hand made cups, a custom headband and more. It's really a labor of love. CEE TEE prefers the Enigmas and I prefer the Paradox Slant.

I find they work well with a modest setup. I suspect a Bifrost MB and Lyr 2 with SS tubes would rock. I use mine with a Geek Out V2 at work via balanced and find it to be a great little setup.

    Ah that's right, Paradox Slants.
I've been really curious about it, much loved by the folks around and -when one disregards any subjective musical taste- seems to at least isolate well isn't it?

Probably I should try to get one for an office use.

Closed and neutral? Alpha Dogs to me are more bass heavy and have a glare in the treble. Neutral-ish. You know, you might want to consider a T50RP Mk3. Surprisingly good and cheap! It's more or less Fostex's modded T50RP, haha.

What is your stack exactly? The T50RPs like power.

    Hello

Does anyone know if the updated Black Widow will have adjustable gain settings? And what is the output impedance of the amp?

    Thanks!

Anyone here heard the Lambert Play It By Ear at a meet or otherwise? I can get one for a good price, but wanted to get some opinions on it first.

Does anybody have any experience with the Peachtree Nova DAC/Integrated Amp/Headphone Amp. I have seen these before at stereo shops but they were never really on my radar, although I do own a pair of the excellent ERA D3 speakers by the same company. A neighbor is looking to sell off his at a VERY good price. It is a hybrid SS/tube amp with an integrated amp that can drive speakers and a head out. It also had a slot for a Sonos streamer which I happen to own. And it uses a remote which is great for me as my setup (unlike most everyone else) is not desktop. So, it seems like a nice overall package that would meet a lot of my needs and I suspect the amp will be an improvement over what I am currently using for speakers.

But I am wondering if the headphone section is any good. Well, and also whether the DAC is any good as well. Alternatively, I had been thinking about either the Mojo/Gungnir Multibit stack (multibit) or Lyr/Bifrost MB stack or the Cavalli Carbon amp in lieu of the Schiit amp. But none of those will drive speakers. Just wondering if this might be a good enough all-in-one space-saving solution or if I should just deal with separates and try to figure out the best head amp/DAC combo and stick with my current integrated for speakers.

Anyway, aside from opinions on the Schiit products, which are, of course, welcome but also voluminous in other threads, I would really like to hear any opinions on the Peachtree from anyone with experience. Thanks.

Anyone have any thoughts about the new DT-1770. Considering buying that or the Ether-C (I know, huge price difference) for my next closed pair.

Whoa, that is a tough one. I did like the Dt1770 over the Ether C, but did not spend enough time with either to consider spending that kind of money on them.

What did you like about them versus the Ether C?

Ether C to me is distant, boring, low resolution, canned, needs volume to wake it up. Just first impressions and in a single configuration, mind.

Dt-1770 - for a Beyer, warmish, bass is more prominent than other Beyers, mids nice maybe a bit too rich and set back a hair, no bothersome treble spike. Decent overall and worth about $399 in my eyes.

I have only heard the Bryston at RMAF a year or two ago. Every can I plugged into it seemed to do the cans no favors. Kind of bright and a bit thin kind of like a Yulong D200 combo, maybe it was the "I can't remember the dac" that was fronting it.

I thought the T50RP Mk3 was noticeably better than either of these. See my comments in the RMAF Impressions thread.
