Uncertain as to the reason, but regardless of browser on Mac OSX these forums utilize a monstrous amount of RAM. Any others experiencing similar issues?

Performance on my windows box and Android phone seems to be within expected parameters. I'll clear caches and monitor it though.

That doesn't happen on my Mac. All normal, and also on my Pixel 2.

On Windows, I'm in the 100K to 119MB range of ram used on Chrome after beating up a few pages repeatedly, posting 2 pics, and general browsing.

I cleared cache on Android and went a'browsing. Managed to get cache size up to 81MB.

I'm using a 15'' MacBook Pro with 16 gb ram and the 6 core i9. The laptop is less than 5 days old.

But sure...it's the hardware. Will check to see if Mojave has implemented virus scanners in the new version of Safari. Issue is apparent in Chrome also.

LOL at the new thread title. It started out as a valid concern, to a certain degree, I guess, IDK.

    Anyways, carry on.

Seems more like the same 6 ads - reloading infinitely. Solid coding.

Still well over 2 gb being used in Chrome w/ uBlock enabled. Good way to keep the rando's at bay I suppose.

You need to click on all the ads that you get. That's how they go away. Also buy all the things for which you click the ads. Maybe you'll get an ad for a working Macbook in there too.

I'm on a new Mac Mini and the entirety of Chrome, with dozens and dozens tabs open in addition to SBAF and no ad blocker plugin, is using a couple hundred MB of RAM.

Guys, it's not completely impossible that OP's laptop did actually get infected with malware by accessing the site.

Does the problem persist on reboot? Are you running the latest OS and Chrome version? Have you tried loading the site with Javascript disabled?

I just profiled the site on both Chrome and Safari (2017 Macbook Pro) and getting 30-60 mb of RAM use on both browsers.

You know that each tab has its own process and memory right? Unless it’s dozens and dozens of Wikipedia pages that’s going to use a lot of ram but what op doesn’t understand is ram exists to be used. You don’t get a prize for only using 25% all the time, that’s just a waste of the money you spent to buy it. Ideally you’ll be using nearly all of it, all the time, as cache if nothing else.

Yes, I do understand that. I was referring to the total. The other sites aren’t Wiki, but they’re mostly text. Regardless, SBAF ain’t gobbling RAM on my recent Mac like the OP suggested. That was my point.
