It crossed my mind. I had one for years in my main speaker setup. Never had USB problems or battery problems. I did not keep trying to charge it while listening via USB like many did, that is not the way to get best sound, nor to keep the battery in good shape, haha.

I thought I recently saw an Andromeda for sale here, but can't find it now. Possibly my old age kicking in...

If you're thinking of @YMO's, I'm afraid it sold.

Yep, it's gone. If you want a Sony DAP, I'll get rid of my ZX2 for those who really want one.

I changed my setup around a bit and seem to have developed a bit of hum on my Lyr 3. I didn’t change wallsocket just power strip and placement. Grounding is working fine as well.

    Setup is as follows:
One 12 socket strip with following components:
Active speakers, subs, two dacs, tv, lyr3, nvidia shield and minidsp. The latter two and i guess the tv use switchmode psu’s.

The two channel setup works great, no hum or hiss. The lyr however hums and it’s worse if it’s placed in one of the first sockets. If i place it in the last one it is considerably less but still noticeable and not acceptable.

My idea is to get something like an Ifi ac ipurifier and place it between the switchers and the rest. This was already quite an expensive powerstrip but it has no star grounding afaik. Getting one of those might be an idea as well.

    Thoughts?

Logically it seems to be a grounding problem with the strip. Any chance you can swap two smaller ones in place and hear what happens? I would not throw more money at it with a ground fixer upper or what have you. Any chance you can plug the Lyr into the wall to see what happens.

I pulled out the multimeter to check the ground connection from the strip to another socket on the other side of the room and the ground is showing a perfect connection. And i plugged it into a different socket using a long cable no change.

It does change with volume, something i should’ve checked. I use a minidsp to control the volume with remote so i leave the lyr at a fixed volume. So it’s coming from my Yggdrasil. I’ll have a play with it some more.

Edit: powering off and unplugging the Yggdrasil has no effect. Disconnecting the rca cables obviously works.

Edit2: unplugging the aes cable between Yggdrasil and minidsp removes the hum/buzz. Removing other cables from the minidsp has no effect, including power.

Edit3: solved it there was one combination i apparently skipped over. Retraced my steps. Standard ground loop with aes cable that comes from the pc. Which is on the same wall socket but on a different powerstrip.

    Hi,
New to the forum and need advice

    Current Setup - Astell Kern Kann Cube (5 pin xlr ) -> Violectric V 200 amp -> He1000V2.
Looking for - Dac and Desktop Amp for He1000 v2 new or used. Amps can be headphone amp.
    Budget - 4k-5k USD total
Comments: Looking for relatively warm sound signature, but I am not a bass head either. Hopefully realistic sounding system. I do not own a lot of music, mostly stream from Qobuz and Amazon HD music. Would eventually like to move to Dante based system (I'll get a dedicated computer building later). I listen to pretty much all kind of music except metal. I do enjoy vocals more, both male and female. I wish to use the DAC for two channel someday if I can ever get to setting it up. For me tonality is the most important aspect, followed by timber and texture followed by sound stage.
Questions: Are there USB solutions (hopefully not too expensive) that sound good? Till now I do not have any experience with USB audio. I do no yet use the computer to play audio. If there are good USB solutions I might try that when I set my computer up.

I'm looking into VSS for gaming and am using GSX 1000, HP out into an amp to drive various HPs. I found a well matching pair - with ESP95X it sounds pretty realistic to me, and benefits the rather small soundstage of the koss while sounds dont have the effect of being strained to sound at the edges of HPs soundstage, like with other HPs.

Theres an added benefit that I can set the finnicky L/R volumes once and control volume on GSX1000 wheel. But how do I volume match for best quality? Seems like setting ESP95X on max volume with volume control on GSX1000 produces worse SQ than GSX1000 at max volume with volume control on ESP95X. I guess there should be a sweet spot at setting ESP95X volume to have good range of control via GSX1000, is there maybe some science behind it? Or just good old testing time by ear.

Help my PortaPro pads are disintegrating. Should I order a replacement set from KOSS or is there a better option?

I bought several pair as spares for my ksc75s years ago. If they are the same size I may have a virgin pair. They are not oem but the pair I used to replace the originals sounded fine. If I can find them they are yours for postage.

EDIT: @Boops I spoke too soon. I must have given them to my son years ago for his ksc75s.. The only thing I have now is a bunch of new earbud foamies. Sorry.

Thanks. PM me if you find them. I'd happily pay for postage. If not, I'll go with the Yaxis.
