Smaller and more portable for the win. The lite is the ultimate busy dad console. I played my switch 99% handheld anyways so it was a good transition for me. I have both and pretty much gave up the regular switch to my kids.

TBH, as someone who has always preferred PC games, a switch lite + PC is the right mix for me.

Thanks dude, I mean seriously. M2 is coming out with the Aleste shooting collection, and they are making a new Aleste 3 for the collection. Also coming out for PS4 but my unit is back in the box. After selling the Switch twice due to I don't game on a TV that much, Lite might fit a perfect need for me...

Hope you are having better luck than I am getting one!

I like the msi gaming x trio the best due to it's quiet fans and good looks. Will take either a 3080 or 3090. Had a 3090 in my cart and was yanked OOS last screen of checkout , that's the closest I've come

Sold my 1080ti so ultra high speed Intel onboard graphics in the meantime

Now that the real numbers are out, and with all the issues the AIB partners are having with crashing over 2Ghz, I'm waiting.

If Big Navi is faster than 3080 for the same or less cost, I'm still wary of their drivers.

As of right now, my 1080 Ti is doing just fine.

It turns out the crashing was largely a driver issue, nvidia was fluctuating the clock boost too rapidly. The new drivers fix the crashing for most people. The crashing affected some cards more than others due to capacitor layout differences but it seems that the new drivers largely fixed the issues for all

Big navi will likely be similar speed to 3080 with a bit more vram, and AMD will probably undercut the price a bit. That being the case I'd still prefer an nvidia card based on 5700xt drivers and featureset difference that favors NV

As someone with large hands, I'm a fan of the Switch over the Lite. And this asymetrical grip is fabulous for longer portable sessions.

Also, note that some games are much improved by using the motion controls on detached joycons (Mario Odyssey for one, and you can't play Ring Fit without joycons). Again in part due to my big hands, I got ergonomic add ons for the joycons (with the added bonus of offering battery power).

And while on the topic of the Switch, just finished Astral Chain and really dug it. Very cool combat mechanics between main character and chained beasts that can be unleashed for battle and more.

I used to be so obsessed with the idea of mobile gaming that I spent too much money on old Dell Axims and tiny Windows based handhelds that ran on puny atoms in the hopes of emulating older systems on the go. I was too far ahead of the curve as the hardware and software just weren't there yet. Now that portable gaming is everywhere, primarily due to the emergence of smartphones, I am meh on it. I LOVE my big TV and have a really hard time with the idea of gaming on a 6" screen now. I adore my Switch, but the only time it leaves its dock is when I am watching a movie my GF doesn't feel like watching and wants to play Overcooked 2 or I am taking it to a friend's house (well pre-COVID). I would love for the rumors to be true that a Switch Pro that isn't mobile but slightly more powerful will come out. Of course, this has been shaped by the fact that I have worked from home for several years, so the need for gaming on the go has been basically nil.

BTW, playing games on the big screen via an NVidia Shield has been amazing, at least for games that don't require a keyboard and mouse or nanosecond reaction times. My GTX1070 struggles with AAA games on my ultrawide monitor at native resolution, but can play anything with 60+ fps at 1080P. Since the Shield is capped at 1080P, I am able to game on the bigscreen with better performance than directly at my computer. And from where I sit, 1080P games look great on the LG C8. Games like Witcher 3, the Tomb Raiders, and the like have been fun to revisit this way.

You actually can GameStream in 4k, you have to adjust the settings in the Nvidia app on the shield. Under GameStream PCs, select your pc, then click advanced options and then quality.

Shhhhh. Let me blame the Shield instead of my graphics card :)

I've been playing RDR2 on my shield in 4k, and it has been pretty awesome. It's definitely pushing my 1080ti to the max though, and I barely get 60fps.

So does anyone have a favorite game for testing sound stage, location precision, depth of field and listening, etc? Right now I still us CS:GO and will run around for 5-10 minutes, often just with bots, to test traits related to the above, but I think this game itself definitely has limitations. I also realize that listening to hokey sounding footsteps and gunshots is not the best test.

The Morpheus loaner showed me that a lot can actually be done here that doesn't necessarily come out with every song or recording. I don't play a lot of new games though and would like recommendations for different ones.

What are you researching exactly? I got one as a gift last year.

I must need glasses because I find everything too small on the switch's screen. Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart ass. I think I might need reading glasses.

warzone is pretty good actually. just set the audio setting to "boost". BF is okay. Tarkov is good for directionality but awful for verticality.

d-pad is mushy feeling, It’s pretty disappointing. Tbh I don’t like the system much. I’ve only used it for dpad games because I’m afraid to use the sticks because of drift. I’ve had several joycons go bad and I’m worried this will too. It also doesn’t dock which sucks and means managing game saves between the lite and the standard switch. It’s a pain in the ass because games don’t automatically pull the latest save. I was using it for commute so I had to manually download all of my saves before leaving the house. If i was able to dock I’d just use it as my primary switch but it doesn’t.
