Awesome instructions @loadexfa thanks for being so generous with your time.

I should add that im internet technology stupid and I couldn’t figure out how to get my Pi2AES set up via volumio.local i wound up downloading the app which I believe is available for android as well as iOS. It was super easy with the app. It scanned my local WiFi networks snd I chose one and entered the password snd it worked. So try the above first because it’s the proper way and is less likely to cause problems but if you’re having trouble try just downloading the Volumio app.

I put some random music on the Tidal account I thought would be generally well liked but feel free to add your own artists, albums, songs or playlists.

If that didn't work, also try http://volumio.lan. It seems to depend on the wifi router and the device you are trying to connect from.
It was a bit confusing for me in the Roon app. Under Preferences -> Audio, you should see the Volumio device, and under it there are several endpoints named "bcm2835 ALSA". I don't know what this means or which one to use, but I enabled one of the first two and it worked.

I suppose I should join this if it’s still open. I’d like to test airplay functionality.

You're in! Is your tag accurate, you in Florida? If so I'll put you after HotRatSalad for the East Coast portion.

Many thanks for adding me to the loaner tour. I ended up taking advantage of the very generous free case coupon code and bought a pi2aes this week. Please remove me from the tour. :)

the loaner moves on 16 January, as a 6ft separated, outdoor drop off location point has been agreed to between myself and @scblock while wearing masks if not complete hazmat suits.

Successful handoff from @jexby today, masked and distanced. Have it hooked up now, getting it going with Roon was painless. Currently running it into Modi MB in my 2-channel setup.

You should just run up to him to give him a hug. I would.

Nice this loaner is a thing since Pi Audio stuff is still pretty voodoo for some.

Yeah that was part of my motivation, I remember how my first reaction to learning about streaming from a Pi was something like, “what is all this complicated BS??”. Fortunately it doesn’t take long for this to become easy and we now have helpful step by step instructions (thanks to @purr1n ) and threads where people can get guidance.

the Pi2AES was covered in whatever bacteria/viruses @jexby had all over, (we all are covered in bacteria/viruses) Coronavirus if he was sick or a carrier. It takes 24-48 hours for it to die on a surface.

just FYI. Quarantine for 24-48 hours depending on how safe you want to be is a must for this kind of thing. Maybe I should post a thread...

I received the Pi2AES, power adapter, and coax cable today.

I feel like my critical listening isn’t great at the moment. Hope I can provide some useful feedback comparing this to my Allo DigiOne Signature.

I would love to be considered after the USA folks, if Canada (Vancouver) is an option?

I can compare to HifiBerry Digi+ Pro -> SPDIF Bifrost 2 and to Unison on Bifrost 2 (and Eitr if that's useful to anyone).

    Thanks!

I can vouch for @Imraan if that helps. Seems like a solid guy.
