This has happened a few times. Watch an anime that I like which has a follow up movie. Movie can’t be found by usual means and was only available on stream for 3 days some months ago. Why? It’s aggravating. I need to know what happens in Bunny Senpai!!

Well that sucks bums. The series + movie are all available on Netflix for me and it's one of those strange series I got into just to kill some time with but ended up being genuinely invested in what happens, haha. It's got tones of Suzumiya Haruhi and Oregairu but is also damned cool in its own way. Hope you find a place to watch the film because it's a great closer!

Netflix recognizes the titles of the series and movie but I can’t watch it. Your reply confirms it’s a regional block. Funimation streamed the movie for 3 days in April but I wasn’t watching the series. It’s bothersome because it, as you said, ties up the series nicely from the reviews I read. I was surprised at how drawn in I was to it; I started it just to see what it was about. The ending was a bit of a let down for me which is why I would like to catch the movie. Sakuta reminded me a bit of Hachiman from Snafu/OreGairu, another series i quite enjoyed.

The title of the movie is Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. If you have a link that allows me to stream it than great! I couldn’t much that was still working but google may have mislead me. I did come across a link to a Facebook page that seems to have it but haven’t tried it yet. The Facebook poster might have rights to it? Seems to have quite a few titles. I imagine Facebook would have removed it if it’s an illegal stream.

Best manga I've come across in a while is Ao Ashi. Soccer manga, fairly Shonen but by far the best of them all with actual tactics that make sense. Really good.

Watched the follow up movie to Bunny Senpai: Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. I was a little confused as to the ending so I did some googling as maybe there was something I missed. Apparently if you read the light novel it makes more sense. I found an explanation online for what happened that has me satisfied that it was a good ending. I just wish I didnt have to go google it as I dont think I would have caught the nuances, maybe a side effect of cramming something in to a feature length run time. Overall, it's a series I would recommend.

So I know there is at least one other person who likes Rent a Girlfriend on this forum and I am now part of that fan base, so much so that it became the first manga that I have ever read. There is nothing particularly fantastic about it if you step back and analyze it but bloody hell it just works. I binge watched the anime in one sitting starting rather late at night, stupid as I'm too old to do that anymore, and then read the manga over the next coupe of days.

On the flip side: Noblesse, the most recent Crunchyroll manhwa adaptation is a disappointment that I have dropped. Makes me think Tower of God was a fluke.

Attack on Titan S4E1 available now on Funimation or Crunchyroll.

Haven’t decided whether to watch it now or let it build up a few episodes, might be hard to avoid spoilers.

Im trying to decide if I should quickly run through S3 again, but, I think I have a good handle on what is going on.

Im curious to see how the art style is given that a different studio is doing this last season, Mappa is pretty solid so should be ok.

Rewatching Princess Mononoke for the nth time, first on the new TV family splurged on. The pin-sharp resolution and high saturation works really well with 90s Ghibli stuff but fast scenes look oddly fluid. Bit painful on the eyes.

That all aside it's aged well and I still stan the film haha.

Ive tried watching some Ghibli stuff but cant get in to them. I know its borderline sacrilege to speak ill of that studio in the anime community but I have to this point found them overrated. I might give a couple of the supposed "better" ones another chance as perhaps I wasnt in the right mind to watch them.

Nah, there's a definite nostalgia factor for me and many others. I can also respect that the more storybook appeal of their art may not necessarily sit well with many fans of other anime, or that the plots that feel inexplicably familiar despite your never having seen the films (plus a lot of their famous films were based on books in the first place: https://www.tofugu.com/japan/studio-ghibli-books/).

I mean, I really enjoyed Conan: Boy of the Future/Little Women/Emma: A Victorian Romance/Steam Detective when they were airing locally in the mid-2000s so I fully admit having kinda shit taste :p

Ok, no spoilers but AoT has finally started to get good. I accept the animation issues and dont think it is as abhorrent as some. Took me a while to get into it as I had to adjust to the different perspective of the narrative. Probably should have reviewed the previous season.

ReZero: is this still any good or is it fooling people? Im up to date but am having trouble caring. A lot of needless exposition IMO. Seems to circle around a lot (which I get is kind of the nature of the show with its mechanic) without accomplishing anything.

Keep Your Hands off Eizouken: legit good anime. Just started but like it a lot. I can see why its on many best of the year lists.

Tonikawa over the moon for your: Cute as hell.

The quintessential quintuplets: Im a sucker for rom com animes. I like this.

Jujutsu Kaisen: overhyped but has potential.

Haikyu: most recent season was strong and did a nice job of expanding the world. Not as good as season 3 but very little is. Still thank @tommytakis for putting me on to this.

Didn't know some of the Tenchi Muyo! light novels were released in the US with great reviews.

Been rewatching the main Tenchi Muyo! OVA series (not any of the spin-offs). Been a long time, but still enjoy it. Even had the old US Laserdisc Tenchi Muyo OVA releases before the series became big on Cartoon Network in the future. I'm mostly rewatching it to see if the show still has a spark of interest for me so I can consider getting the light novels. Not looking forward to the third and forth Tenchi Muyo! OVA series (post 2000, so computer animated, not my thing I prefer hand-drawn cells).

Also started to read the Yu Yu Hashiko manga, since I'm too lazy to watch all the episodes. Nowadays books/manga is easier for my lifestyle.

Tenchi Muyo and YYH are my childhood, lmao. Probably explains why I'm as weird as I am, in retrospect ;) And yeah, hand drawn cells are beautiful, have more life in em for not being so sterile-looking. Guess that's analogous to the analogue v digital argument in audio too!

The YYH manga and anime basically follow the same story beats so you won't be missing out on very much, but I felt some of the fight scenes esp during the Dark Tournament arc were just "shot" a lot better. You don't get the super hype OP and ED songs with the manga either, but yeah they're a much better fit for current lifestyle too.

Started to watch the Third Tenchi Muyo! OVA before the I got turned off in just the first ten minutes:
    • Changed in art style thanks to transitioning to computer animation.
    • English VA had some changes that I didn't like.
    • Didn't like the feel of the story after they resume from the Second OVA.
I guess I'll stick to the 90s stuff for Tenchi Muyo! I read others had similar complaints to me on the Third OVA series and the Fourth OVA series as well.

I dunno why, I just don't feel like watching so many episodes that can take 20-25 minutes always. At least with the manga I can just "Pick Up and Go" after five minutes of reading or 15 minutes. Like I was reading YYH at my local cafe and after 15 minutes I got my kicks in.

That's how it should be :)

I find that is the case with many anime characters (forged mostly from Manga). They are far more complex and interesting than characters in regular "west" animation.

This requires serialization, as it is impossible to explore character depth well within one or two episodes. Many "west" series, animation or not, are overtly simplistic:

    Fully good. Fully evil.

Oversimplification is in my opinion a byproduct of forcing self contained stories per episode, mostly on "west" serialized stories. This perhaps with the idea of engaging folks that started watching a series late, who otherwise would loose interest if unable to "get it" at the end of any random episode in the series.

Video on demand sort of ended that concern though. Because I can watch episodes in order anytime I want, unlike with off-the-air in the old days.

EDIT: In regards to the old days, Manga seemed to target and have a following from a more mature audience. If you missed the anime episodes, you can always read the Manga and catch up. Not so in the "west". Many relevant TV series did not have an magazine animation counter part. And the few that may, did not follow the the magazine or newspaper faithfully.
