@Hands, I noticed all the FR measurements show some sort of peak at 2k, and the CSDs have some ringing in that region (although I doubt the audibility of the ringing while listening, looks to be roughly 25 - 30 dB down depending on pad). Do you think that this is some driver behavior like the Auteur's biocellulose driver which would have a massive 6k peak if it wasn't for the front mesh? Reason I ask is if that was the case, I'd think that there'd be some front damping material that could conceivably bring that peak down, although I dunno what that would do to the other parts of the FR.

I think there is probably some accuracy to what @purr1n said about how these being more on-ear will affect measurements relative to over-ear.

My assumption is it's more related to the enclosure and pads than it is the driver in and of itself. Front damping can only do so much, if anything, and is probably why rear damping helps on CSDs.

This is a case where measurements can only tell us so much. Have to trust our ears.

Again, when I played around with EQ on these, using the PP Pads, I only found myself wanting to adjust any part of the spectrum by no more than +/- 1dB.

Nice measurements. Smart putting the microphone in an eartip. This is whats called a "blocked ear canal" measurement. Theres a white paper floating around somewhere out there on this. Any chance we can get some stock Grado's for comparison with your setup?

As luck so has it, I just got the loaner RS2e in today. And I've measured many other headphones you can use as a reference too.

Got my Symphones V6 drivers out of the drawer and put them into some wood shells mounted on a Sony MDR-7506 headband and Greekria Flat Pads to make myself a set of some easy to use device together with a smartphone or an IPad.

The V6 drivers have three holes at the back open, thus they have a bass elevation I do not favour.

Too bassy. So I did some back damping on them to make them more balanced.

I must say, I am digging these now, I really am! They put out some decent bass oomph, while beeing very snappy and resolving up top. Plus, the whole thing is very portable and light.

No, I did not. I have always had faith in Rhydon's drivers. V4 was special, and I am still hoping he will come up with something even more balanced and smooth than that.

How did you attach these pretty pads to the headphone?

Pretty much like any other Grado pad, pressure fit. Offset hole cut into part of the larger part of the pad as a whole, and a lip cut inside that for the cup to latch into a bit.

Thank you! What tool are you using for the cutting?
