For those who've done Axpona before, how's the record fair?

Sigh. I have to do some work for one of my entrepreneurs tomorrow morning and will have to miss. Sorry folks. Maybe we can get an actual meet to come together instead.

I think mostly suboptimal set ups. Muddy base, room nodes, grating / etched top end, some systems so loud it hurts your ears. My biggest take away from all this was that I didn't feel the need to replace anything in my system.

Finally got to hear the RAAL = a real treat.

And the LRS plus from Magnepan are amazing. Seriously cool "trick" to not have symmetrical speakers, one panel is classic but the other splits the large panel into 2 larger sections, leaving a fairly large bass panel, this means that the sound digs quite deep for relatively small panels.

For anyone who wants to hear them, you need to reserve a listening session at room 544.

You are being too generous. For me it was a few great stuff, mostly crap high-end setups that were played 15db too loud. Great people and ran into some old friends. Good times all around.

Well technically you ran into me, tho I don't post here much these days so I doubt I count, I'm more like a Audio Friend not quite a super best one

An yes, the SR-1A out of the VM-1A is outstanding! Did you happen to hear it with the M1SE or M3? An did you use the CD-T as source or were you streaming?

Slightly off topic question, is the Axpona currently the last proper audio show in USA?

Eager to finally go back on road after borders open some day.

I would say RMAF and NY Audio Show are all well regarded.

The organizers of RMAF have cancelled it permanently. Head-Fi's CanJam is worth mentioning.

I was talking to a few friends, with RMAF no longer being happening anymore, I think Axpona is probably the biggest audio show now in USA but not 100% certain on that.

There was Florida Audio Expo that happened earlier this year, Pacific Audio Fest happening July and Capital Audio Fest in November, THE Show in June (and two more planned), NY Audio Show September.

Think those kind of round out the other big shows for this year but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed a few.

Yeah, I saw the announcement for RMAF, always was one of the shows I wanted to visit.

We are currently taking break from Canjam, some of our dealers might show up, but we not going directly.

Lovely, thanks for all this info.

Had a good time meeting people and listening to gear. I was a little underwhelmed by the setups too. I'm sure it's hard to set something up in those small hotel rooms, but is it usually that bad? I felt like a little EQ would have went a long way for a lot of those rooms.

I thought the headphone room was a lot of fun (even though this was more of a speaker show) and thought the magnepans were neat (thanks for the tip @dBel84 ). There were a few speaker components I liked, but every time I had a price I thought it was worth in my head, the retail price was always about 3x (or more) what it was worth to me. Not sure if my expectations are off or things are just too expensive.

Also no masks was nice, but I also caught a cold so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just got back from NAB in Vegas. Thank you for reminding me to take a covid test. My boss got it on the first day of the conference!
