I'm making the official announcement about this model.
It's offered at half the price of the OG models.

Is it worse sounding because it's cheaper? No. I don't release stuff that I think sounds bad.
Also, I don't want to make a product that is fundamentally inferior in performance compared to a higher positioned product.
It's cheaper because of the materials and production process, that is all.

This is the "v2" that has been talked about- and it is, but I didn't release it as the v2, because it's not meant to be a straight upgrade from the OG models. It sounds different- it has to by design, because it's not made in the same way as OG. (which saves me a lot of stress and hair-pulling)

What is different about this design? Well, for starters, it has no foam at all. On the driver side, and baffle side.
For those of you that have tried modding the 580/600/650, you would know that removing the oval foam (and the driver foam) increases detail, but makes the cans shouty. I liked it- direct sound from the driver is the best- but the shoutiness was why I had not gone that route many years ago. The increase in space and detail and shoutiness seemed inseparable.

But now, armed with more knowledge and experience, I wanted to try taming the sound through a purely acoustical approach, by making a chamber. The JAR580B, JAR600B, JAR650B is the result. This was a battle of curves. Even a 1mm difference in chamfering made a difference in the treble presentation. You will notice the part also has some specific curving, which was not left to chance. The holes on the baffle were also purposely left open for example.

I am happy to release it to the group, and thanks to some kind members here a loaner should be coming soon. Stay tuned!

Welp, I need at least one of these to add to the JAR600 and 3 or 4 other 6** variants I already have. f**k yes.

Already getting a JAR800. May as well add a BS600 in there. My JAR600 and JAR650 that are both Silver Screen have been serving me very well. Whatever dude does to make something great even better, he knows what he's doing. I'm in.

Can we get photos of the earpad side to see what's been done to the front baffle? Awesome work

    Here:

No foam as I've mentioned. Also no triangle driver protection thingy, for maximum transparency (yes I've tested with and without. I feel having it without helps with treble smoothness).

Oooh... maximum transparency.. yes I'm a proponent of no-foam design philosophy. I try not to use it if I can.
As you can tell there's some more additional work I did to the screen ;) I've exhausted now everything I can think of doing to the 580/6x0 design.. for now.

The 600B is so, so good... I've been listening to @Erroneous's pair as part of his loaner, and I think I like it better than the A version which was also included in the loaner—I keep reaching for it over both the A variant and my LCD-X...
