With COP2x going on in Egypt right now the news is full of climate doom and gloom. Was just reading an article this am that say we need to have the same cut in global emissions as the pandemic in 2020 every year for the next 30. Right, the cuts in emissions that just happen to correspond with the trashing of most of the world's economies, times 30. Hate to rain on their parade but that is not happening.

Not a Crossover/SUV, so not going to be a major seller like the RAV4 in the US. RAV4 been outselling the Camry for years in the US Market cause worse gas mileage and moar space.

Subaru Impreza redesign was announced today, which went from mutliple trims to only three trims: Base/Sport/RS (yeah, they are bringing the RS stuff back, but no manual so CVT for ya). Also no leather seats. Also no more Impreza sedan since everyone was getting the hatchback. Kind of looks cool but they this eco compact model will go up in price due to inflation and other crap on it.

The same Impreza gets lifted up and becomes a Crosstrek that sells like boatloads to chicks. I would do the Impreza instead.

Automotive enthusiasts everywhere are rethinking this one:

I mean, I'm even tempted to put in an order for a 2023 just so I can put that sticker on it and roll around with it for a couple months. I wonder how well these things will lease...

The ones that I am seeing buying Priuses are boomers, and even then they are getting the RAV4 Hybrids.

My first winter is fast approaching ( actually snuck on me while I was enjoying the last rays of summer ) BUT I was prepared

Fitted the winter wheels this weekend as I didn't have time before there was snow on the ground - they fit perfectly and am looking forward to driving year round.

    Summer fun
    Front Pirelli 255/35/20 Rim : 9Jx20 ET55
    Rear Pirelli 295/30/20 Rim : 10.5Jx20 ET38

    Winter boots:
    Satin Black Motegi MR153 19" ( +42 offset )
Rear wheels needed 1.25" hub centric adapter

Had been looking at Nokian Hakkapeliitta but got a killer deal on a set of Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 (245x45 x19)

The Haks are excellent tires, but pricey. I'm also running a new set of Sottozero 3s this winter (had them on my last car as well), and am very happy with them. And the sale price at Costco was unbeatable.

That sounds like a great deal, and handy he had an appropriate size. Costco is still a great place to buy tires though, at least if you are OK with the major brands - Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc. I speak to local tire shops and they shake their heads and say Costco's retail price is lower than their own dealer wholesale cost. Such is the benefit of massive volume I guess.

You got my hopes up... But of the six different tires I need for my three cars, four aren't carried, one is out of stock, and the last one is within a few dollars of Tire Rack's price.

    Oh well.

The other thing to be wary of with Costco is that if you want to buy tires that aren't the OEM stock size, they won't sell them to you, at least my local Costco wouldn't. You could probably try to buy only, no install, but i'm guessing that could run amok of any manufacturer warranty legal-eze stuff.

Stock changes often there, no doubt as a result of high turnover. Tire Rack is great too, probably for the same high volume reason. They don't operate in Canada though, but they will ship to some places here. I've ordered from them in the past, had tires delivered to a US parcel service address and then driven across the border to pick them up. Costco is far more convenient.

I've read that on the internet, it seems it is highly variable from one location to another. I bought non-stock size summer tires last year, and brought my own also not factory size wheels that I purchased elsewhere. They did make clear they would not be liable for any car or tire damage as a result but they mounted and balanced and installed TPMS sensors (that I also provided) no problem. I installed them on the car myself though. Can't say I had any issue with that, I swap my own tires every spring and fall anyway. If running non-oem sizes has warranty implications it probably does not matter who installs them.

So I went to the track a few weeks ago and a stock Sentra appeared out of nowhere about half way through my session. Not a sleeper build... nor was it a pro driver there to dunk on people by destroying them in a Sentra.

Not pictured is the huge parade of cars behind me... Flaggers didn't even flag him with a striped blue flag... Probably should have been black flagged though b/c their presence and squirrely driving almost caused 2 collisions within the first half of the lap. Was so squirrely that none of us even wanted to attempt a pass until the straight. Was annoyed for all of 5 seconds. Then laughed uncontrollably afterwards.

No disrespect to anyone who drives a Sentra day to day. And I do admit that it takes a lot of balls to show up to a track day in a stock Sentra.

At least I know @penguins doesn't have the balls to bring the new Mitsubishi Mirage on the track. I would so do that shit just to see how fast I can flip that MF'er.

Stupid to jump into a presumably non-beginners session without even knowing the line, though.

    That's Streets CCW, right?

Yes. I went with @penguins; I was in a different session pretending I knew what I was doing in my C7 when in reality I suck balls.

On the plus side for some reason I was really nailing the downshifts that day. The heel-toe action was crispy and the sound out of the LT4 was glorious.

Back to the Sentra; the buddies and I saw him pull up and immediately started laughing our asses off. The most common comment: "is this guy for real?"

Best driving experience of my life: SCCA Formula Ford races
2nd best driving experiences: shitty little rental boxes in the Alps, Pyrenees, St Thomas, Pennines, etc.
Had a Sentra for one of these, the rest were smaller/shittier. But no less fun.

Yes, Streets CCW. I understand everyone has to start somewhere, I'm not super experienced at track myself, but none of us saw the Sentra earlier in the day (we walked around the pits at various points throughout the day) so we assume they just showed up mid day, skipped the driver's meeting, safety and instruction talks, extra beginner instruction, etc. and decided to just hit the track mid session.

Driving a slow car fast is fun yes (I have a similar great experience pushing a very lightly modded Honda Fit), but this driver was driving a slow car not fast and not safe. Also doesn't change the fact that it was comical and how badly they held EVERYONE else up.

I too wonder what it'd be like to pick up a beat-to-shit Fit off craigslist, strip it and throw a huge honking rear sway in and run 40psi in the rear tires, with zero fears of having a bad off. Watching some of the youtubes of Fits on track, it's like every corner is no lift in the best possible way.
