This doesn't answer your question, but according to my PCP, if you've participated in an outpatient sleep study, your physician can order a follow-on in home study if the results were inconclusive.

Back when I could still run fast, I used a DT-770 Pro for gaming. Good sound, lots of bass, closed back, durable, reputable brand (Beyer). I found them quite comfortable.

Sleep studies are challenging to obtain good results for people that do not well tolerate all the sensor connections. You might obtain much better results with a Home Sleep Study employing a device such as:
    https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/product/HC1114801/alice-nightone-home-sleep-testing-device

I use one of these regularly to manage my own sleep issues:
    https://www.amazon.com/Wellue-SleepU-Wrist-Pulse-Oximeter/dp/B09LHQZR9M/

The opportunity occurred for me to compare the Alice with the Wellue for SpO2 desaturation data. The results were highly correlated between the two.

@atomicbob I wonder how accurate my Fitbit is with regards to oxygen saturation?

Maybe this could eventually be its own thread, but I'll start here.
I would like to update my toolbox. Nothing in particular; the whole kit'n'kaboodle eventually. Wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. What brands do y'all like or have experience with?

Stuff like Knipex and Channellock pliers/wrenches are generally very well regarded, but are they "worth" the price premium over Irwin or Dewalt? Is that PB Swiss screwdriver set awesomesauce vs a Craftsman? I'm willing to spend the money on good stuff that will no longer let me use the excuse of bad tools to defend my shoddy workmanship

Yeah I know there are a ton of other tool sites and youtube reviewers etc; I've been trawling through a few of them. Just looking for some opinions from here that's all.

I wanted to ask the great brain trust here - in a hypothetical dac and amp stack, and given two different power supplies where one power supply is markedly better than the other...is there a general consensus of where to use the better better power supply between the dac or the amp to get the more maximum potential out of the stack? (I know of course I will be experimenting and such and will be putting ears on this, but wanted to see if there were already an established precedence or not.) This will be concerning a soon to be ifi zen stack and in between the ipower2 and ipowerX smps. Any thoughts are most appreciated. Thank you.

Does the better power supply have enough output to supply both dac and amp? it's not like dacs take a lot of juice anyways... so all you would need is an cable that splits the power output.

No, it’s only one power supply per device…it can’t do both. and Yes the dac could run off the usb power itself even without a power supply.. But I will have both the ipower 2 and the X. I’m just wondering where the better supply should be utilized in normal principle.

Gut check tells me the dac will be more sensitive to power supply gremlins.

But truly the best solution is to spend tons more money and upgrade everything to the Pro series and iPower Elite, because the iCan Pro has the daisychain power port to feed the iDSD Pro :p

Maybe wrong thread, but I thought I'd try here first, looking for an LPS for my Pi2AES with stock SMPS:
    • must be known to play well with pi2 (must meet spec and not blow up)
    • must make a difference in sq, however subtle (notice I didn't say better, if it's all out better, then please say so!)
    • must be around $100-150
Candidate right now is Allo Shanti, any other suggestions? (Does an Sbooster model also fit the bill?)

Not linear, and not in your price range new (although used ones pop up), but I found subtle but noticeable improvements going with an iFi iPower Elite. If you are trying to squeeze the last pit of juice out of your Pi2AES, it is worth a go. Although, if I were to do things again, I would likely try out the 5V mod before investing in any other power solution.

I think I’ve read about this—is it the same mod on Golden Sound’s site, or am I confused? Is it hard to actually do?

Very easy actually! Goldensound outlines what is needed and steps to do it. Then with the ability to use a 5V PSU you can just go for the much more affordable iFi PowerX which should be a nice little upgrade.

Be aware with the 5v mod, you bypass the protection circuit on the Pi2AES board. That said, I believe a number have done it with no issues, but at least one person here toasted theirs.

And to your previous question about the Sbooster, yes you can use one of those as long as it supports the minimum voltage (which I think is 15 or 18 now?) and up to 24v

I built a 5 volt AMB Sigma 11 LRPS for my Pi2. I've used it for a couple of months now with no problems. The improvement in SQ was very evident.

Great - now nervosa is going to get me.

Were you able to get Wi-Fi streaming up or skipped that since you are wired at home?
