:/ all the best solutions are diy it seems... and you're right, I should be worried about upping my Piety well before an LPS/better PSU for my pi2.

I did hear a difference for the better but sometimes you get used to and like the way it sounded before. Plus you can go back and forth I used the nuke for a couple weeks, and now have removed it just for comparison sake. Now I'll try it on the speaker rig pi2aes.

Is it possible to manually upgrade the Bluetooth chip? Is it on the hat or on the pi itself?

Bluetooth has nothing to do with Pi2AES functionality. The Pi board has a wireless (WiFi + Bluetooth) chip. If you wanted to upgrade Bluetooth, find a HAT or USB dongle that does what you want.

Quick update. After the solid response and checking to be sure we had the parts we will be doing 200. I hate having demand with no inventory and would rather carry a bunch and be able to ship within a day or two.

We will get the first sample in about 4 weeks. If it tests ok then the rest about 2-3 weeks later. Not quick but not bad for these times.

Any advice on troubleshooting a Pi2AES that suddenly won't turn on? Tried several outlets, but can't get the red LED to pop on. Haven't changed anything with it (SD card, output) since two days ago, when it was working.

Some questions that might help if you can answer:

    1. How are you powering it now?
    2. Is the PI on?
    3. Can software find the PI2AES?

    1. Stock SMPS I have been using since I got it (nothing 3rd party)
    2. How do I tell this?
    3. moode.local doesn't pull up, so I guess also no?

Look at the power LEDs on the pi. The red one specifically.

No lights at all... my guess is stock PSU went kaputt.

I would try taking the pi2aes off and booting the pi from it's own power input just to troubleshoot.

Wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best power setup for the Lite/2.0.
    • Good 5v supply directly into the hat with RPi running off the stock supply.
    • Good 5v supply into the RPi, hat powered by the RPi.
Not sure if the supply used for the RPi has any bearing on the sound when powered separately.

Is there a sound difference between wifi and hardwire ethernet on these things? Just sort of thinking through how this might fit into my system. I get a ton of noise through my USB into my DAC because of my gaming PC and I'm considering just completely unplugging from it with this.

all the parts are at the assembly house and I should be getting the first sample in about a week. As mentioned before, if that is good, then I will get the first batch of 100 about three weeks later.

As an interested Lite owner, what would the power supply needed be for 2.0? Thanks

same. It can run off the pi or separately. Note that unlike the original PI2AES you can’t power the pi from the PI2AES 2.0.
