    GOOD USED STUFF FOR SALE:

Sonic Frontiers SFD-2 MKII DAC SE Plus upgrades $1999.95: http://www.partsconnexion.com/product29883.html
    Sutherland Ph3D MM/MC Phonostage $585: http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/...ering-ph3d-mmmc-phono-preamp-battery-powered/

The SF unit is a vintage DAC using the UltraAnalog modules. R2R DAC. Think PCM1704 done right in terms of sound.

The Sutherland phono stage is very good solid-state sounding unit that uses 16 D batteries which should last over a year. The opamps can be upgraded at the expense of battery life.

Shazzamida suggested I go with the Ray Samuels Nighthawk for phono duties, but if you've heard the Nighthawk, I'd like to hear a bit of a comparison.

Looks like it's gone already. Thank goodness, I was about to add it to my cart.

Figured that if you end up MB'ing it, it'll cost you a total of $1050 (assuming that site has free shipping too). You can find Gungnir Multibit for $1000 if you're lucky these days.

True enough, but being able to do $500 now and upgrade down the road when another $500+ was available is what appealed.

And by upgrading to Multibit version, I think you will have the warranty again, instead of no warranty if you purchase the used Multibit one. Too bad I don't live in US to take that route.

You are correct, although it is 2 years instead of 5. I did exactly that with a used DS Gungnir

Best dac I ever heard, and it was without upgrade. Man... 2000usd + shipping+22%vat+custom fees is a lot of money for me.
Hope someone in the conus is smart enough to make the jump and enjoy it.

@songmic has one too at my recommendation. I don't think he liked with without the SE+ (and additional super-duper upgrades). This is an awesome DAC.

Nighthawk ordered with SBAF funds. I plan on reimbursing the difference back to SBAF funds (when either my Ph3d or the Nighthawk is sold off) since there is self interest on my part here.

What purchase protections does Audiogon have? I assumed they'd use Paypal but they don't.

Edit: Nevermind, I see they do offer Paypal. I made an offer, even though the guy has zero feedback.

The seller accepted my offer on it. I'm a little wary because he has zero feedback, but I used Paypal so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult to get refunded if it does turn out to be a scam.

Now I just need to order my cartridge upgrade and new speakers and my vinyl rig will be in fighting shape.
