These are DIY sweet cheeks of wood that Felib put together using drivers from somewheres in the interwebz.

Let's start by going through the process of unboxing these coconuts: @#$!

But it's all good, eventually I was able use my skillz to pry open the virginal box. And Howling Shite are these Big. Materials are top notch and workmanship is way and beyond what I would expect from a DIY can. It's just too awesome.

The cans are set pretty wide. Think Abyss. Cans are comfy but a little on the heavy side. This is likely due to the materials which are top notch. Cups are very nicely finished.

    Cable is also nicely braided.

Now as far as the sound, I wasn't expecting what I heard. Awesome mids. Treble was also pretty good. But the mids were very well executed. It is often the case that things go somewhat wonky with closed cans. Not so with these.

These are bassy. And they are not uber-clean in the lows. But they are very engaging and very musical. These marries really well with the balanced mids.

Again. These are NOT SHIT. Very masterfully done.

I would like to point out that the channel balance is remarkable. According to Brandon, these are tuned by ear, which IMO is quite an accomplishment.

    Oh Yeah!

    The force is with Brandon.

I noticed that the driver protection in the images seems to be missing in the cans.

BTW, note that the measurements are at 90 dB SPL @ 1 kHz. This is the baseline used in most measurements I've done. But some of us usually hear cans at lower levels.

This puts some bassy cans at a disadvantage in distortion measurements. In this case the lows will be closer to 100 dB than 90 dB.

Graph look awesome, and so do the cans! It seems they have that signature I like/prefer.
    What drivers are those!?

I have tell you how impressed I am by your Diy headphones
They really stimulated s lot of curiosity
The design and execution is very evolved
Did you design and machine the yoke and head band?
    It's exceptional
That's a beautiful juxtaposition of materials the wood and metal contrasting each others natural beauty
Are the wooden spokes around the driver there for diffusion or reinforcement?
I do not see any screw holes so how are the plinth and the cup sttache
Your mini upholstery skills are definitely first rate
I would be very interested to see the stages of evolution and to hear the reasons for the changes
    Thanks again for posting

I did do the yoke and headband. I'm quite proud of its simplicity and functionality.

The spokes are there to strengthen the driver holding "tube" i guess. Mostly pocketing out the additional material saved a little weight.

The cups are designed to be a friction fit with the baffle (the part that holds the driver) but i did end up applying some epoxy to a couple of the interfaces to offer a more robust connection.

The pads are actually the hardest thing to get right. They have a massive impact on the sound. Figuring out how to attach them is even tougher. I think what I've done works well, but certainly took the most head scratching.

How did you manage to change your EQ band from the membranes ? did you do it electronically or with a chip ?
