Interesting, the RE-0 was my gateway drug, always wanted to hear it again

It looks extremely similar to the cable of my RE400. If it is, get ready for some hardcore microphonics. Though for $35 shipped I can look passed that with some cheap ass shirt clips I can buy.

The description specifically says the cable was revised to reduce microphonics.

These more in the line of the RE-400 or the RE-0? I really don't know much about the Hifiman IEM line in general, but I could always use another pair of throwaway IEMs.

If anything, the Hifiman IEMs are rather easy to recable if it's problematic. I never owned the RE-0 (though I've heard it a few times now), but did have the RE-Zero and I regretted parting with those years back. Either way, at this price it's a no brainier if it's more or less that signature!

LOL, I got these in too. Neutralish, mid-centric. Fantastic timbre. Measurements in few hours.

Nostalgia and my memories may be playing tricks on me, but in my mind, the gold standard for mids in an IEM is the RE262. Would love to hear those again too.

Awesome! Sounds about right, I've long enjoyed the timbre & mids of pretty much all the Hifiman IEMs so far.

Just one channel for now. I'll get the other tonight when I have a bit more time.

Neutralish IEM with emphasis on mids, more natural timbre than UERM. The bump around 2-3k is OK (maybe a little bit too much) and desirable for IEMs since they bypass pinna (which bumps up this region). For those who want more bass, just turn up the bass boost. Everything else is fantastic for $35.

Lots of fine detail. Dynamic driver instead of BA heh?

Hope these aren't the same shells as the RE-0 shells. Those use to come apart all the time.

    So true.

Nice, I'm looking forward to trying them out. Single DD FTW :p

Looks to be the same, but some better quality glue (like epoxy) can resolve this if it happens. I will most likely be popping them open anyway to re-cable.

Had an RE-0 years ago, had them come apart as said above. I'm definitely going to buy these though, at $35 I find it hard to imagine another IEM being a better value. I won't be joining the drop though, 4 months until shipping is too long for me to wait for full price. I'll just pick some up used that will no doubt hit the market eventually.

Yes very similar. Subjectively, mid emphasis seems a bit lower in the range compared to Ety. Also treble isn't as hot as the Ety. I felt the Ety had a little bit of a treble peak that got annoying after about 45 minutes of listening.

Thanks for the measurements, they are what sold me on these (that, and $35).

We should maybe get the new etys for a loaner tour! That would be fun. Should be a good comparison with these.

These seem like a no brainer considering the price, pedigree and (HFM/MD) rep... @purrin how do you find the speed, clarity, imaging, and extension? How do they scale? Is midrange texture drier (closer to the OG RE-0) or wetter, bloomier (a la the RE262)? I always loved the OG RE-0.. it's responsible for me getting into the 'neutral sound.'

Seems kind of bloomy in the mids. I haven't heard the earlier ones, or at least I don't remember.

What's that weird line that seems to run across the opening of the single flange tips? (on Massdrop's product shots) Just curious...
