TFZ IEMs come with a pair of comply tips.

Why am I not surprised? Sounds like typical chi-fi to me.
Oh well... at least sorrodje's impressions are on the way. Not expecting much though

Glad I didn't bother pulling the trigger. Speaking of a lot of hype, I heard a lot of stuff about the Shozy Zero. Anybody have any experience with that?

So... let me get this straight. OP goes on and on about how this thing is the best IEM in the world, and pretty much crushes all these kilobuck IEMs and now multiple people who've auditioned them found these phones to be, no better than the Zero Audio Tenore (which is a really damn fine phone in my estimation), and his idea of neutral bass is the FitEar334? Christ, I wish I'd waited just a little bit before pulling the trigger on the TFZ 5 LOL Shoulda trusted my gut instinct when I'd read that Tomscy felt the Fitear Fitear (which the OP compared the Series 3 to) had way too much midbass. Eh well, I hope the Series 5 is at least decent. I had a short convo with ClieOs and he felt they were pretty well balanced. I'm not a fan of overly bassy sigs nor recessed upper mids/wonky treble which is what the TFZ series is starting to sound like.

I've had James' modded TE-02n for awhile now. I think it's quite exceptional for the money. SGS seems to feel like it's similar to a FIBASS with more linear treble/bass and I think I'd agree with that, so it's no Tenore (more raw/aggressive than the laid back Tenore). I find detail retrieval on that phone to be pretty much top tier, and the bass has exceptional texture and recovery speed - similar to what I recall of the Dunu D2000J but with even better extension (roll off at around 26 hz. to my ears). It's not my absolute favorite in terms of signature (I prefer more note weight overall), but I have to give credit where it's owed, and I find it to be a ridiculous performer irrespective of cost.

    Mine's still on the way.
To be honest I didn't have high expectation anyway and if it ends up sounding no better than my Vsonic GR07 Classic, I guess I could just give it to my brother or sell it.
At least there's an opinion that the 5 is the least bassy, good sign for me since I don't like thick bass.

But yea lol I wish I waited a little bit too. $79 could be used for another better lulz like buying a used CA Music One.
Well, what's done is done. Just hope they at least sound a bit better than my current backup IEM.

I have them, they are quite good. Not giant killers, but worth more than the price being charged. I've heard more expensive IEMS that don't sound as good. V signature, mids aren't recessed much though. Definitely a bassy iem. I like them very much.

I know this is 2 weeks after your post, but I googled and TFZ is sold by LendMeUrEars in Singapore:

Maybe they have demo units in their physical store.

I don't think it was you, more the op's wording that created the stir. "The BEST iem in the world" is going to cause a bit of a stir.

Plus that's what we do on here. We keep people honest, so it doesn't end up like HF.

Yep, played it based on the recommendations on Rock Paper Shotgun! Was very entertaining, and I always thought the turtle vendor had a cute illustration. Combine that with My Name is Earl, and that's the story of how I created my profile :)

That's where I went to audition them, yep!

P.S. I don't think we should worry too much about throwing out differing opinions here - that's part of what makes this community better at sorting out the good stuff from the bad IMO. The important thing is that we state our preferences and provide comparisons so people know where we're coming from. In the TFZs' case, if there hadn't been a claim that they were more resolving and better built Tenores, I probably wouldn't have gone to check them out and report my findings to you guys!

FYI, TFZ Series 5 stock versus 'Harakiri Mod', both uncompensated.

Green is stock (much too much bass for me), red is modded. Sounds much more pleasant and blanced that way.
So what is the 'mod'? Was really frustrated about the stock sound and would not have cared for it that way,. So I took a needle and gently poked - harakiri-like - into the bass vent, just very gently and not more than about half a millimeter!

Must have opened up something, thus taking away the excessive bass. Covering the 'vent' results in the same bass boost as with the stock configuration.
Would be very careful to recommend the mod, really. But it did the trick for me just all right. The poking could just have killed the IEMs, but would not have given the 'stock' sound (would concur with MrTurtle's impressions) any more head time anyway.

Now - using Comply tips - these sound balanced, treble is inoffensive but lacks some finesse.

Got my 5 series today. Fast shipment from aliexpress. Bassy stuff for sure. Will give those a few days of listening in different situations before any more impressions.

Waiting for comparison with Shozy Zero, whice I've found to be a hidden gem for an IEM under 100usd price range...not as dull as RE400, and more "fun" than tenore, yet more tehnically proficient too, better timbre, better imaging focus and staging.

could a mod like @The Alchemist change the title of this thread to something less HF hype train ?
this IEM is clearly not sanctioned by SBAF as "da bestest evah" and google searches on "best iem ever" taken here misrepresent experienced folks of SBAF community as somehow agreeing with Rando hype gunk.

You can change the title of a thread you started by going to the right hand side of the page # bar (at the top of the thread) and selecting Edit Title from the "Thread Tools" drop down menu:

"Rather good IEMs for the price, based on my preferences, IMHO, YMMV"
Yep. That'd be a perfect title.
