    New Grouplove album out tomorrow.

First Sigle - I like it, still sounds like the band, super upbeat, I've heard this song on the radio a couple times recently and didnt realize it was a new song, I thought it was an old on I just havnt heard before.

    I love ELO.
That is a nice song, lots of ELO references with the strings and more.

Here is their "pissed off Jeff Lynne solo" track as I like to refer to it:

I've heard bits and pieces of their works a long time back, but giving Arcade Fire a thorough go over the last few days, their music is utterly superb.

The stark shift in style from Funerals to The Suburbs is quite apparent. Both awesome in their own regard. Neon Bible was a little meh for me though. Yet to get started on Reflektor but I have sky high expectations now.

Any recommendations for similar offerings out there?

Seconded, I've been listening to a lot of Autolux lately. Their latest album is great too.

    Ever listen to Typhoon?

Pela is a band that, to me, kind of captures the emotional impact of Arcade Fire without necessarily sounding like them. They disbanded and some members reformed as Augustine's.

I don't think this needs much of a pitch, I can't really improve on letting it speak for itself:

..though the album does have a permanent place on my mobile devices as lossless, if that's any indication.

I was talking about Alt - J with Xecuter the other day and were dissuccing their show at Red Rocks. Catching a show here should be on everyone's bucket list. There is a DVD out for the show that came with the Record Store Day record - if you are an alt j fan check it out. Not my fav song by them, but give you an idea of the magic at the concert.

This is a great thread full of stuff I've never heard of and need to check out.
I'm still sorta stuck on that 80's Post-punk / Alternative stuff.

Alright..Lets start with the Electronic / Alt-Pop from that era...

Depeche Mode - I like the "Black Celebration" , "Music For The Masses", "Violator" era the best.
New Order - Lots of good stuff but "Low-Life" and "Brotherhood" are my favorites.
Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark (OMD) - "The Best of OMD" pretty much gets you everything.
Missing Persons - "Spring Session M"
And don't forget the Kraftwerk and Devo....I'm sure there's a lot I've forgotten.

And then we have the early 80's California punk scene. I found this article that has some really solid recommendations:
    http://www.laweekly.com/music/top-20-greatest-la-punk-albums-of-all-time-the-complete-list-2408864
Don't expect great sound quality...If you can find a copy of "Repo Man" soundtrack, that was one of my faves back in the day. I'm pretty sure its out of print and didn't see it on Tidal or Spotify. Or just watch the movie if you haven't seen it before.
I didn't see any Dead Kennedys on that list so you gotta check out "Fresh Fruit..." and "Plastic Surgery Disasters"

    To be continued........

I didn't mind that at all. Thats the first I've ever heard of HMHB. We missed a lot of that stuff in the US.

Ok here are a few more I still listen to that were virtually ignored in the US:
    Wire
    The Jam
    The Specials
    English Beat

    I just noticed @Marvey thread :
What are you listening to now 80s edition (although late 70s new wave is OK too)
    I'll continue my recommendations there....
