Oh f**k. Do two of those amps fit side by side on a standard 17.75" rack?!?

Is that a Mojo2 chassis on top? That's some smart Schiit...

Excellent. Schiit Vidar will become the NAD 3020 of the 21th century, except with even more power!! And balanced tube preamp with remote for only 700$. Holy Schiit.

Mojo2 only has one tube per channel. That looks like 4 total. I would think it's their preamp.

Form factor, not actual product. (It's the Freya.)

The NAD comparison is a good one. They nailed the budget/quality balance back in the day. I've got a NAD 3125 feeding some Miccas at work. Similar aesthetic - minimal and sturdy.

I'm super excited for the Freya. One question, it looks from the pic that the quad 6SN7 are pretty close together.
Do you think it will accept ST shaped 6sn7?

What is that ROON ready stuff at the bottom? Is it sitting on top of a product? Hard to tell...

Yeah, I thought that. It just looks like a Mojo2 chassis.

Preamp. Looks interesting. 6SN7 tubes (not crappy 9 pin junk).

3020 was an integrated amp. Vidar is a power amp that needs a separate preamp. Not really the same thing.

Just one question on the Freya.. Is it better to leave it powered up 24x7 or shutdown when not using? From a tube longevity/cost of operation stand point.

I have zero experience with tubes(except CRT monitors)

Also which type of speakers would perform optimal with the kind of power that the stereo vidar does.

Leave it off otherwise filaments wear out (think light bulb). Tube gear takes 15 minutes to warm up. In the meantime, don't forget your 6SN7s. I like the black triangle plates. Don't overpay. $15-$18 per tube is about right. A lot of expensive stuff sounds different, or flat out weird, rather than better.

That was exactly my first thought when I heard about them. "Oh, Schiit is finally using good tubes".

    edit:
I also agree with what you're saying about NOS 6SN7.
I generally like new production 6SN7 more because much of the NOS stuff is gamble / all the really good stuff is long gone, and if you can find it, expect to pay premium. Much of the nos 6sn7 gambles I've made sound sub-par.

They are slightly bonkers prices, but my two favorite are Psvane grey bottle 6sn7 and Shuguang black bottle.
Sophia is good, but you can get better nos for cheaper. 6SN7 is just a delight they're using it. So many options in both NOS and new production.

I can't say for sure, but most likely the Freya will accept 6SL7 too.
