What's even funnier is despite that, this place really isn't exclusionary. New people can come to the table at any time (well, except for now), and provided they take the time to learn our crazy ways, they become accepted. I still feel like I'm a newbie despite having been to SBAF dinners, meets, and members' houses.

Just like my lunch table analogy, there's nothing stopping you from going over to a new table and introducing yourself, eventually you won't be a stranger anymore. Maybe there's a correlation between the type of person who has difficulty making friends in real life and the type of people who waste their time complaining about online forums they already know they don't want to integrate with?

Well said. I do like that facet about this place even if I don't read or post here much.

I kinda got this vibe, one from the f'ing name of the site, and two from having bugged you and most of the regulars here over the years. However, I suppose that besides the name this sentiment isn't really stated anywhere. Maybe put a small summary of this idea somewhere on the home page for when you open up for new members.

Or people should just treat the communities they are apart of as, I don't know, communities.

First the authoritarian turning point, then registration\borders being closed to aliens...

Ok... time to go... I feel a strange itch behind my neck... like my head wanted to separate from my body.

Now there's a member description to wear with pride!

So? What's wrong with some old friends having a mutual masturbation session. Everybody does that, right? Err... right?

    Oh for photoshop skills!

Spent some quiet time on HF this week-end :p

The only thing missing from this thread is some black caulk. Somebody please feign disgust like the dude in the head-fi thread :)... too funny. Even Dan from Mr. Speakers was in on the action though I'm sure it made him uncomfortable (never met the guy but by the looks of him I'm sure he blushes at knock knock jokes or watching Ellen)

Those were the days days when HF was fun. We used to dare each other to post stuff like that on HF. None of it was mean spirited, although in many occasions, it was to provide a contrarian viewpoint in a hype train type thread, usually in the form of an ugly looking CSD or FR plot.

You're fine. Better than fine. Do you know how awesome it is to be in room full of samurai massacre, and have the dealer of death pause with his blade pointed at your neck, look intensely at you, and then silently move on? Go forth, lurk moar, ask as needed, listen, share. You'll do great.

As I look at the activity of threads I follow there grow in new post counts to triple and quadruple digits. I realize that I'm missing very little useful info. It's mostly speculation and personal expectation lists or else "I ain't havin none of that" crap...

Oh and the crazy tube rolling with adapters, can't have a tube amp thread without someone chasing crazy adapters to use 4 tubes instead of 2...

I tried to organize a mini-meet last year but when I posted an interest check on Head-fi, there were only 4-5 people within 3 hrs of me that responded. All of them had pretty entry level stuff that I either had already owned or had no interest in. I'm all for getting newbs exposed to better gear, but I felt there should be a better balance of attendees, and more people in general. So I decided it wasn't really worth the effort and expense.

Wow. My last post seems way out of context. That's what happens when I get 5 pages behind on a thread and reply before reading forward.

However, this thread has been most entertaining and informative. I also think @Marvey should drink more often.

Context is not just for Christmas?

Oh wait, I thought you said week. The ea/ee thing. One of several things I never got straight in English spelling.

I had a moment of weakness and went back and posted a bit this week, and umm, it's quite annoying. There's a lot of ponderous idiocy, and you're simply not free to tell people to go stick their head in a pig.

Oh, and @pedalhead, even your meet thread on there is getting a bit annoying.. that clown person in particular seems to be a bit of a dimwit

Yeah the meet threads have a history of being a bit silly...mostly to keep interest up. Last year everyone was writing haikus about, umm, me. I know a lot of them IRL so it's all good. Dunno who that Clown fella is though. Honestly, I'm not sure the whole thing with having common test tracks is workable, but they can run with it if they want to (I'm focusing on the more important meet logistics). I'll bring along my own test tracks that I know backwards & inside out.
