All I did was to build a time machine so that I could go back to a former era and join a /really/ weird headphones forum.

HD6x0 stuff is still quite good despite its age. The Auteur IMHO is better in most technical areas (and has its own charm) but something about those old Senns makes you question your sanity on your expensive headphones.

I still dig my OG HD650, but it is on 'roids with the Moon Audio Silver Dragon balanced cable.

The same thing happened with my Auteurs, I sold them after some listening. HD 650 was catching up to it and I hated that.

The Pendant definitely has more engaging vocals than the 3F, though they're not really characteristically syrupy or "warm" a lot of the time. If you're going to buy one, note that my review was with the one with the WIMA caps, not the one with the Jupiter caps (that is the current version). I can't imagine the Jupiter caps do anything but improve the sound, but worth noting.

It's my personal favorite SS amp. Hardly any sins.

3f & Auteur... wonderful pairing, its the best my auteur has sounded.

Pairs well with the VC too. For me I like to match my Universe Lambskin pads with the amorphous transformers, while the Be2 with the nickel ones. Instrument separation on this amp was a wow moment for me when jumping from Asgard 3.

There is some speculation about the loaner tour dac2541 having an issue with the SE outputs. Will test that when the specific unit arrives here for testing. My personal unit is now at 95% measurements complete and hope to post in a day or three.

Luckily for me they're ALL out of my price range. I would have loved to snag those JAR 650s though.

Break-in period makes literally no sense to me, but for some gear it definitely is a thing. It's part of the reason why with brand-new gear I'll give it some time.

Well I think you need Ethernet to get it setup, maybe. At least that’s what I did. Others may have a method to do without however.

For Moode and Volumio, you do not need to hook the Pi to ethernet for initial config. By default, both broadcast their own SSID when booted. You connect your computer's wifi to that SSID, then log into Volumio/Moode and move the wifi to your home's wifi network. Pi will reboot and then you can switch your computer back to your home's wifi and manage Vol/Moode like any other device on your home WLAN.

More like a TP-Link Wireless N300 2T2R. I use something similar for my Pi's.

honestly molph if you have a bifrost 2 maybe trying to get a sw51+ may be better synergy, just trying to be objective here. of course it depends on what other headphones you have (with utopia/clear I think bifrost 2 is fine)

I was actually going to ask you about that pure, I have HD800 so I think the more laid back combo with the BF2 might work well, but when I eventually get some grados (thats another rabbit hole) so I might explore other schiit dacs

Prism Callia via asio outperforms pi2aes in my system.. even Spotify is a pass for me. ( never like Unison in Modius so it depends, I guess )

I can kind of see why you'd want a Soekris rather than a Bifrost 2 with a 6XX...just a tad drier and less warmth and all that. I personally was never able to get into 6XX, despite all the acclamation its received here. Just too sleepy/slow for me, I think, but maybe I just haven't heard it on the right system.
