SDR in the house. My cheaply built measurement rig tells me the nasty HD800 peak is reduced. Thanks @sorrodje! Mar 21, 2020

Cork mod + some drawer liner I have on hand and a bit of EQ have them tuned pretty close to my tastes. Waiting on official rug liner and some other materials to continue the tweaking.

Somehow, I started out looking for a cheap "beater" HD800 and ended up buying a new pair ... <facepalm>

The HD800 is not a beater. It is a frail indoors product that cannot survive the abuse the HD280 was made for. At least ask @sorrodje or @Serious some help to tame that treble.

I was originally looking for a cheap used unit (i.e. "beater"), but couldn't find anything reasonably priced. The wife has an intense disdain for anything used, and told me to just buy a new one. Found one locally at a reasonable price. Only a handful NOS left I think.

Already have SDR on the way, and hopefully some official rug liner material.

You know margins are good when a pair can disappear into thin air and you get a free no-questions-asked replacement. Curious what the manufacturing cost on something like this is...

Nope, just easier to identify my own posts with OG avatar. Been fairly stable from onset of symptoms with a gradual trend from wispy curtains to a general haziness with a few larger particles floating around, so I guess the fibers are breaking apart and will hopefully be gradually absorbed or settle down at the bottom of the vitreous. Doc said I should "see" improvement in 2-3 months.

This looks like a moderate strength one, i.e. not projected to be too bad? The counter-clockwise air currents it's dragging all over northern Asia is pulling huge amounts of polluted air down from China.

Thanks for the good wishes. Living in the capital which usually doesn't suffer much (mountains and coast get hit hardest), typhoons are something we hope for so we can have a day off. This one veered to the north so it turned out to be just a mildly stormy day. People will go shopping, to movies, and KTV.

Yeah, us city dwellers are always hoping it's a big one so we can have a day off. But I feel for the people on the coast and in the mountains who get hit worst. With the way this one hit the Chinese coast, it's lucky we only caught the edge of it and really had a "free" typhoon day with minimal damage.
