Selling my EAR Acute III CD Player & DAC.

This unit can be used as a standalone DAC using the digital inputs, or it can play CDs. This is a tube DAC with dual (in series) 6DJ8 / 6922 / 7308 tubes in the output stage. There is also an analog rotary dial for output volume level. Therefore, you could use this DAC directly into a speaker amp ... such as the excellent First Watt F7. The DAC chip is a Wolfson 8741. Condition is very good. You'll notice that the EAR and TDP logos on the front face plate have developed a patina. I don't know why, this just happened over time, and had already started when I obtained the unit (as the second owner). Not a big deal.

What else can I say? This one is known for a wide and holographic soundstage and tonality can be tuned via tube rolling if desired.

Had the standalone DAC version of this, it's a pretty special and hard to find unit. Stages really well on speakers unlike a lot of DACs around, can tune via tubes, output transformer, CDs... Hope it makes its way to a good new home.
