On purpose, they want to fit to modern spaces with their designs and are doing rather well. Any of Blades visually works for us too.

Well... their design is acoustically modeled. Genelec 8XXX series and the Ones follow the same form.

Interesting... like an embedded dual helmholtz resonator. I wonder how much sound escapes through the upper driver.

My understanding is the upper drivers are in their own sealed pods as you can see in this illustration of a model four:

Interesting. If I were to play armchair designer, I'd like to try an isobaric woofer configuration. Probably no better in terms of complexity, but more compact at least.

also makes me wonder if there's any driver-to-magnet isobaric open baffle setups floating around.

edit - yeah, not a great idea.

Got some used Janszen zA2.1. Set up is a work in progress but hope it's porn-y enough for the thread:

Used, so white. Other options are so much more attractive but price was right.

They are sounding great so far.

    Looking good!

With the room having what looks to be cinder-block walls and a concrete floor it's going to be very "live". Will likely want to consider some room treatments (reflector panels, bass traps, carpet, etc.) as you dial things in. I suggest referencing "Get Better Sound" by Jim Smith to help with the process. The room itself is often an after-thought compared to the equipment, but can have a huge impact (often negative) on the listening experience.

    Cheers and happy listening

Yeah. I don't know if it's because I'm nearfield (sitting in a 9' equilateral triangle) or the design of these speakers but they do not seem to interact with the room much.

I took a REW measurement of them and the bass (at my listening levels) is amazingly flat from 20-100Hz.

But even with my eyes closed listening the concrete bugs me. ;-)

    Apparently these were at AXPONA.

Pretty sure someone flew these in the Star Wars Ep 1 speeder race:

The speakers are funky enough. The LED strip thing just looks stupid.

Hey, that cable makes a difference! Imagine the amount of noise it must be producing! One of the less-intelligent audiophools at work there.

Aesthetically, I hate speakers like that. They shout bling. BUT I never heard any yet...

Not exactly a complete speaker, but truly exciting news!

SB Acoustics will update the Satori range with new "Textreme" woofers and tweeters.
No info yet, but SB Acoustics is no Accuton or Audiotechnology, so while probably the drivers will be expensive, I highly doubt they'll reach stupidly high prices.
The drivers look a lot like the ones used by Rockport but with the motor used in the paper Satori drivers.
I've been dreaming about a 3 way speaker with drivers made of the same material and low order (2nd order) crossovers, now it may be possible ;)

AND, they'll also release a dome midrange driver, this guys are fuckin' awesome

For all that effort to cut and stack the plys (plies?) and the freedom of shape offered by CNC, I feel there were a couple missed opportunities:
    - make the end pieces a nicer wood/stain/whatever
    - optimizing the math/curvatures/profiles
    - heck, this was essentially an extruded 2d profile, something with some 3d movement even if it doesn't effectively change the profile or volumes would at least give a more organic look

There's a company/guy in India who makes similar stuff. I remember seeing a pair with the perspex sides. I don't think it was quite so intestinal, but it might have been.

I can't remember the name. And the local hifi forum is a place I don't go to any more.

Is there any math/science behind that curve or is it just aesthetically pleasing?
