Ahh! The instant I put these on, I knew... dynamic IEM, not balanced armatures. Sometimes this is a relief. The timbre of dynamics seems more correct and more pure, although they don't have the speed and detail of BA drivers. One thing to be careful about these IEMs is getting a proper fit. I tend to have a hard time getting a good fit with IEM shaped like this. The cloth bag comes with three different sizes of tips. The ones seen were were as provided to me by CT and gave me the best seal. There was a review somewhere out on the Internets which said the ms01 sounded bright and had treble issues. I am almost certain this was because of lack of seal. With a proper seal, the ms01 have plenty of bass and warmth and no discernible treble issues.



At the price, I can highly recommend this IEM for someone seeking a bassier IEM. The ms01 manages to be bassy without losing control and going flub flub flub. In other words, the bass is high quality. I didn't hear any excess sibilance, odd mids, or disjointedness. One of the ms01's strengths is good cohesiveness throughout the band. The only minor concerns are fit and comfort.

I strongly suspect the peak just below 8kHz is a measurement artifact. I tried all sorts of recordings that I knew would set it off if it were really there, but I wasn't hearing anything out of the ordinary. On the hand other, the strong dose of bass may have been offsetting any treble peaks if they were really there.

Somewhat low Z, but more importantly, it's flat. Ignore the 50Hz doohickey. I'm taking these measurements in Australia with my equipment on an adapter.
