    I found Roxanne to have peaky trebles with odd timbre (much reduced over their prior gens though), so you might want to give it a demo first.

    I've read the same about Roxanne. Give Angie a try. I think that's the JHA iem you want.

    Has anyone else had the chance to listen to the 64 audio A2e? I bought one about a month ago, as I knew that I liked the A series from 64 (previously owned the A6, which was fantastic, however, it failed to make anything sound special, so I sold it.) and I've been absolutely loving it for the price.

    Bass extends well, especially considering it's a 2 driver IEM. I'd say the sound signature is somewhat reminiscent of the Shure SE425, in that it's mid focused. Definitely worth a look for the $100 premium over the 425. Bass is better extended though, and I'd say that the treble is also better extended. To be sure, it's not the best sound out there, but it's certainly a good sound for the price!

    (This is my first real post here, so I apologize if I broke any of the rules here.)

    Hi @shotgunshane , Are you getting AT LS200? If so, love to hear your impression against Noble X since both are dual BA based iEMs highly praised... :)

    Is it worth trading in my pair of Orions for the fitear F111?

    (i already have the andro and the ex1000, so i am after variety atm)

    or would they be too similar? Really liked the parterre and the tg334 but haven't had the chance to audition the F111... but someone on a local forum posted a trade advert...

    thanks in advance!

    If I am you, I would. Orion is often called baby Andro and you already have Andro. And F111 is hard to obtain since it is only available from Japan and MSRP is higher than Orion so higher resell value if you do not like it later on. :) Others may have different opinion, though.

    If you are quite sensitive to treble peaks, you should know that peaks are part of the JHA house sound. Jerry Harvey definitely had some hearing loss from his days in the rock scene, so perhaps that is a part of it.

    The Roxanne was dark with some treble peaks and a veil, which might be why the Layla (which also has some treble peaks) came out so soon after.

    I'd look elsewhere rather than trying to force something that won't work for your preferences.

    Hope you find what's right for you!

    Sometime back I actually asked him if the peaks were there by design (I believe the conversation happened pre Roxanne Layla era, but can't pin down the exact time), and he seemed surprised that I'd say there were peaks...

    Really surprised at the perception about the Flares. To me the are smooth, balanced, transparent and spacious, and I'm sensitive to sharp upper mids. The just lack a little in the upper frequency, especially when compared to the Andros.

    The R2As at <200 are IMO a fantastic deal, especially considering how small, comfortable and inconspicuous they are.

    Awesome. Yeah, he's an old rocker, so the peaks just make up for his losses and sound right for him. There are some reviewers like that as well, it's not that it's some bad thing, just that you have to have an idea what they are hearing and how's that different from what you are hearing.

    @seamon mentioned (maybe here or on HF) that he's sensitive to treble peaks, so it's not so easy. The ciem that comes to mind for non-fatiguing yet still present treble with warm mids and a full bass would be the K10 (I haven't heard the encore, but I have the Katana and it's excellent). So, that is what I'd say to audition next for him. Brannan is at the Canjams, so it's not so hard to try something out.

    I'm thinking about it. It will be sometime after the new year before I look at buying one though. Top priority is finding the best price for an InEar ProPhile-8.

    F111 and Orion aren't that similar imo. Orion is airier with more sparkle and treble presence. It's also more upper mid focused. The F111 does a good job of keeping the FitEar house midrange in place, but in a much more neutral package. It will sound a little more downward sloping in comparison to the Orion with fuller more intimate male vocals.

    Since you have Andromeda there are 2 ways to look at it:
    - do you want to try something new with a different sound presentation? If so F111 will fit the bill.
    - do you want a cheaper Campfire iem to get you similar Andromeda sound on the cheap for travel and just throwing in a backpack, etc? Then stick with the Orion.

    Sorry, missed this post. I haven't heard this model. I've only heard the U10 from 64 Audio and the old Quads from when they were called 1964 Ears.

    I received the Ibasso it03 this morning, so far I definitely like it. Extends well in both directions. Need more time, but so far, I'm happy with it.

    @shotgunshane

    How is your opinion about U10?
    I didnt like it to be honest, sounds kinda boring and veiled to me..

    Agreed. They didn't disclose, until recently, that their entire lineup was designed with the 20~22 ohm output impedance of Shure belt packs. Supposedly 20 ohms makes them all less bassy and give more treble presence. I never thought to try it with high impedance, so I have no idea how it fares.

    @shotgunshane @Decomo thanks that's really helpful, i think i'll give the fitear a go, just one last question... i'm trying to manage my own expectations, how "bass-less" is the F111, as subjectively lean as the orion?

    thanks

    From memory, the F111 bass levels should be similar to Orion. Maybe a hair more midbass, maybe not. It's been a long time.

    One thing that i hate from F111 is their sensitivity with OI...for an instance, paired it with Calyx M (>1ohm) and boom...its immediately sounds muddy and bassy.

    @Kunlun
    Yes I mentioned that I am very sensitive to sibilance. I can even hear some sibilance in my current U12 which is regarded as very forgiving.

    I am settling in with my U12 as my main IEM. This is perfect for relaxing and also good for your hearing. However, I would like to keep a side IEM for more active songs which don't really fit the U12 all that well. My plan is to buy used IEMs at good prices and pass those deals(probably even at a lower price) to others. I want to audition as many as possible before I even set foot on CIEM territory. Next on my list what I've been wanting to do for a while(A/B U12 and CA Vega). I want to listen with my own ears how the U12 stacks up to the Vega. Bass cannot compared but wanna listen to other things. Prolly Angie next. This hobby has consumed me :p
