I just got a pair of new studio monitors I intend on plugging the 2A into (balanced). This necessitated me going TRRS to Female TRS and then using a TRS > XLR plug to finish the chain. I was unable to find a straight TRRS to TRS plug or a TRRS to XLR plug. I barely found a TRRS to TRS female cable.

Where are people finding these TRRS to XLR cables? Are they being custom made?

    Custom made.

Next firmware release notes will instruct people to do both XLR and SE for fully differential amps a la @Bill-P

Got some from http://www.labkable-headfi.com/. I think they joined often at CanJam's.

I assume this won't affect my particular application?

Dyson Audio has short ones on ebay. And it looks like they will make cables to order.

There should be a firmware update for existing GO2A and GO2Pro/GOV2+ users that improve synergy with the Andromeda in the pipeline. Once I recover my GO2A SE from @CEE TEE, I'll send an updated unit to @Marvey to review.

I saw those but that's a double XLR. I only need one. If I run just one XRL into my active monitor, will that only give me one channel?

    Yeah.

I was picturing you wanting the double XLR. Dyson also sells single XLR to balanced TRRS on ebay so the same would apply as far as contacting them for what you are looking for.

Nice to know...any details on what it does? I did notice the noise floor is significantly higher on the GO2A SE than the GOV2, so hopefully it'll address that.

Actually, @zerodeefex, seeing they're working on a firmware update and the SE has Femto clocks and custom firmware already, could you lobby to make a FTM filter available a la Pulse? Hell, replace that SSM filter if you have to. That would be full of epic win.

Yeah, I'd need to have them make a special one it looks like. Oh well, hopefully what I'm doing now will work.

Is anyone upsampling their music with this DAC or no? If so, have you heard any differences -- positive or negative? Or no difference at all? What software are you using?

What monitor do you have? I'm confused as to how you're running balanced with a single XLR?

This (along with other DACs) has the effect (to me) of making the music more sparkly when I upsample.

I've talked to two cable manufacturers and they're telling me it's basically impossible to run a single XLR as balanced into my monitor. The manufacturer of the speaker claims otherwise though. So I'm still continuing to run just regular RCA into it. :( It's a Rockville monitor. This is what was told me by one cable manufacturer:

"It says it will automatically turn the ring into ground for unbalanced, that ring would have your right channel on it. I read through this several times but I just do not trust it. Using an xlr or a ¼ inch into the speaker will not matter since both have three connections. Somehow that speaker is supposed to magically change an unbalanced connector to balanced but you are still putting two grounds together coming out of the DAC and that is the part that scares me, that in itself could wipe the DAC and I hate to do that to you no matter what that speaker says."

I still don't understand the confusion. You can't have balanced with 3 contacts only.

I looked on the website. The 5" and 8" models have two 3-pin XLR inputs, as they should; this is necessary to run a balanced connection. The 6" has only one XLR input. Whoever designed it fucked up royally and there is absolutely no way you will be able to feed it a balanced signal. If that is what you have, I'd send them back as not fit for purpose.

Looks like the 5.25" monitors each take an input as opposed to one having the input panel with an output to the second in master/slave style. I see no out on the single monitor pictured. Thus you need a TRRS-->2x3 pin XLR each of which will route to its respective L/R monitor.

Ooooh, I see what you mean on the 6.25". The XLR is labeled as a "Combo Jack" whatever the hell that is.

    <edit> Checked the manual...holy f**k it is a 3-pin XLR/TRS jack. Idiots.

I am actually sort of curious (in the same way one watches a train crash) what will happen if you plug a normal balanced XLR into it. Do you get quite a lot of silence since one plays the + and the other - and they (mostly) cancel out.
