New-in-box GO V2+ Infinity (newer version with the metal plates and therefore newer guts, not the 3D printed version shown above in Dino's posting) for $280 at HF.

    https://www.head-fi.org/f/threads/fs-lh-labs-geek-out-v2-infinity-brand-new-in-box.840726/

Can also apparently be upgraded to the new FW that changes the functionality a bit (especially related to having a physical volume control via the gain and filter buttons). Just about to try upgrading my V2+ Infinity (metal plates) to the new FW.

    Cheers

Well, they are sold by BoPo Tech, which is in Brooklyn.
    Pretty good ebay rating

As for extended care plans, no, they are generally not a good idea, assuming you are getting the manufacturer warranty. Note also that many credit card extend the warranty as well. The walmart post says new, but that doesn't necessarily mean with warranty. Might be gray market.

update: the walmart post does say: Warranty Information:Full Manufacturer Warranty

Update 2: From the HiFIMan web site:
Service: any issues with that purchase would be between the buyer and that seller and would not have the support of HIFIMAN.

BoPo Tech is not listed as an authorized dealer.

very likely HiFi Man would not honor the warranty.

At least Walmart has a great return policy.

It says in the link that the return would be handled by the seller, but they are also having 30-days return policy.

The reason why I asked regarding the extended care plans was because, HE-560 comes with only 1 year warranty, and from what I'm reading, planar headphones (including HiFi Man) have some quality concerns or the other. Of course, if the Walmart plan is actually tedious and wouldn't honor the warranty citing physical abuse or such, they won't be of any use at all. (anyone who has experience with Walmart Cover plan can probably help with their inputs here)

I checked with the Walmart customer care, and they are saying that it is brand new with warranty. I contacted the seller, but no reply from them yet. I was thinking that if BoPo Tech is a reseller (i.e. bought from authorized dealers, somewhere in the world), the warranty could apply? Does HiFi Man specifically disallow re-selling? (disallow warranty for re-sold items, I mean). In either case, the price seems to be very very low, which is what arouses such suspicion.

What is strange is that both the Amazon store and Ebay store for this seller doesn't have any of these headphones listed. Quite strange that they don't have any major headphone brand items anywhere except Walmart.

Hifiman seems pretty adamant about buying from an authorized dealer. They even list dealers to avoid, although BoPo is not on their list (yet)

Walmart's comment on the warranty is probably just being taken from the marketplace seller's listing.

Here's the list of HifiMan's authorized dealers:

    http://www.hifiman.com/dealers

If it were me, I would call HifiMan on Monday and ask them if BoPo is authorized.

update: LOL. Looking a the google street view for BoPo Tech, 8617 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209, the store is empty and for lease! Maybe they moved. Another address listed for them, 680 Myrtle Ave, looks pretty bad.

With Hifiman's less than sterling reputation for customer service, I'd err on the side of caution. With all of the digging that the other people here have done already, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that you WOULDN'T have a warranty.

If you can get BoPo to confirm in writing, telling them that the warranty being honoured is the major decision in your purchase, then yeah sure you can hold them to that. But I doubt it'd be worth the trouble in terms of time and expenses.

You're right, probably best to directly contact HiFi Man. The thing is, the deal would have been pretty good, if it was used, but in great condition. But, not having HiFi Man's support for repair later on in the product's lifetime, could be a bummer. (that's why if the extended care plan was good, it might have been worth it)

Looking into Walmarts product care plan specific to headphones (including this one), all defects, even accidental damage/wear & tear are covered completely by the extended care plan. No need for hifiman to cover anything.

Provided these claims hold true, this could be an excellent deal. An he560 for $438 shipped with the 3 year plan.

That's why, I wanted to know whether the Wal-Mart care plan was any good for electronic items, especially for headphones.

By the way, where does it mention that accidental damage is also covered. I saw only normal wear and tear coverage.

According to the term, accidental damage is explicitly excluded.. also: "Manufacturer’s Responsibilities: Parts and services covered during the manufacturer’s warranty period are the responsibility of the manufacturer."

To me, that means hifiman has to fix it in the first year, and they may not. You may have to wait until the year ends to get it fixed, if it needs repair!
