This was poorly explained then. I was under the impression this was needed to run the unit. So this is an OPTION if you are ARE experiencing any issues.

Correct. No ground-loop type of problems, then the one balanced cable should suffice. Cheers

Larry or someone could have put that in the initial post(s) and saved people a lot of confusion. Anyway, I'm remaining with the 1.5 for now --- very happy with it so far.

Just managed to update to v2 software on my GO2A. I am an Apple Fanboy and did not realise that firmware only can be installed via MS Windows. Hence, had to go to friend's house and use his computer to install new firmware.

It may be my imagination but sounds better than before... More clarity and resolution. And, good to see that volume can be controlled on unit itself now, too.
One thing that I found counter-intuitive is that volume up button is actually bottom button and volume down is top button and I keep doing opposite. :p

Has anyone successfully installed the new FW on a V2+ Infinity?

Yes, @jayeshrc was kind enough to forward me the new firmware and I installed it on my V2+ Infinity. It sounds great!

Successfully updated the FW on my V2+ Infinity (metal plate version) to GO2PRO_2V1! Thanks @jayeshrc and @Merrick for your help.

The volume adjustment approach of using the two buttons on the V2+ is so much easier to use. Also like the use and logic behind the gain steps being integrated into the volume adjustment. Pushing the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time to change the filter mode is fine as well as I never take it off of FRM/FTM.

Only quirk I've run into (so far) is that I get a short mute of sound when the unit transitions from low to mid gain or mid to high gain. It's only about half a second, but still noticeable. Also it doesn't seem to happen when going down in volume and transitioning down in gain level.

    Good stuff.

Also, any reason to play with the "Buffer Settings" in the LH Control Panel? I've always left mine in what I think was the default position ("Safe" and "Auto"). Cheers

Is anyone having the firmware for the Geekout V2+. I had submitted a support ticket, but still waiting for them to respond.

Also, has anyone here given HE-560 a try on balanced out with Geekout V2+? Would be interested to hear your impressions/thoughts on the pairing.

So tested the Go V2+ inf with new firmware with the studio monitors. Before I would still have my voltage limiter going bonkers on low gain when on max volume. Now its in high gain and the limiter doesn't go off. Sounds much more transparent than previously on 1.5 firmware on low gain with the volume control at -6db(where limiter didn't flash).

Does anyone have a copy of the old v1.5 firmware for the V2+Infinity they could send me? Drop me a PM if so. I could open a LH Labs ticket, but I figure this is likely to be significantly quicker. TIA.

    Hi @Garns,

I don't have the V2 Inf firmware, but I am aware of two instances where the downgrade back to 1.5 failed on GO2A and GO2A SE units. Please let us know how you fare.

Thanks. I found the v1.5 V2+Infinity firmware, but seems I also can't downgrade mine from the GO2PRO V2.1 firmware.

Which is a shame, as I think the new firmware sounds weird and wrong. In both blue and green filter modes (which seem to have swapped roles), imaging is better, but soundstage is narrower and FR seems pretty off. Mids sound congested and it seems muddy and over-smoothed. I don't really enjoy listening to it like this. Maybe this is all because the firmware is for the GO2PRO and not the GOV2+.

I will keep trying to downgrade, but in any case, others who may want to try this should be warned that it may be irreversible, and you may find it sounds worse.

Crap - that makes me extra glad I've decided to hold off. I wonder of the bin file is bad or if something else is going on.

I had a browse around and it seems to be a common error with the USB audio library that LH labs (along with a bunch of other companies) use. Using a different PC is a common solution. I will try to do that. Will report back f I get it working.

In the meanwhile, I'll keep listening to the new firmware and see if it grows on me. I think it's just bad synergy with my Oppo PM3 which are a bit rolled and recessed in the mids.

Since I'm one of the guys who can't go back to 1.5 on my GO2A SE I'm looking forward to your findings. ;-)
But most likely will give it a try, too.

I made a one-track check: Sufficient sound level (UAPP max hardware volume, V2+ on blue gain), nice bass, light overdone treble, soundstage ok.
