The undercurrent for this thread and all similar threads is that people who need their egos fluffed never do well here. And good riddance; they are emotionally underdeveloped and creep me out. Down with manchildren, I say.

    On not reverting the edits...

I don't think our admin team are going to play the nasty-manipulative internet game of posting stuff, leaving just long enough for it to have its effect, and then deleting it. Given that that is true, Many a Submit is Pressed in Haste... And I think everyone is entitled to second thoughts.

I think it's more @Marvey being more a known quantity on this board and given the benefit of the doubt than a person who just turned up on the board that hardly anyone knows. Of course, he isn't infallible, but the whole splash of this doesn't make you look too good as a better known person on here.

@Mshenay Watching how things were rapidly deteriorating at the time I was paying close attention. What I witnessed was @Marvey loosing his temper with you and thus coming down on a specific amp full of fury. I do not recall him besmirching the manufacturer as a whole, and he seemed generally concerned about unintentionally causing them offence. The other thing is that a post was edited shortly afterward, and the fury toned down, but the content remained the same. I did not perceive this to have been done with any ill intent.

As to why there may not be a record of the edit, perhaps it is related to Super-admin privileges causing certain functions of the site to behave differently. For example when @Marvey was able to post whilst having a banned status banner.

My advice to you is to live and let live. None of us are perfect, especially when we are under strain. In life you have to take the good with the bad, and look at the overall impact an individual has.

Regarding agendas. I feel that whether you have one or not is secondary to the real issue of you perceiving agendas in others, or latching on to perceived injustices.

I was curious what was cleansed from the HD660 thread, so I peaked here. Why do speculation threads always devolve into such carnage? Perhaps there shouldn't be speculation threads, it's unhealthy.

@Marvey Is there a way to force new members to post in the introduction thread before they can post anywhere else? EDIT: Just noticed this had been suggested elsewhere a while back.

I'll pass, thanks. And, anyway, things that might have sounded clever at the time don't age well.

I have never demanded apologies from anyone online, but I do think apologies are in order:
    1. To everyone: For bringing what amounts to ancient history back to the forefront of discussion. Whether I technically said turd, shit, POS, or whatever; does it really make a difference? Did you really have to bring this entire incident up just so you could be right on a technicality?
    2. To me: For besmirching my honor, implying I made edits so as to seem "no proof of (my) foul play here". Total foul on my part. I've even admitted so.
    3. To members who defended me: For accusing them of deifying me or seeing things through rose-colored glasses for simply correcting you on things that I had never said.
    ---

This is what I would like people to do: read the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. Some people don't need this. Some people know about it but purposely won't heed it. Taken to an extreme, the techniques will make you seem like a super shallow person. However, I think everyone can get a few good nuggets from it. Also other tidbits of advice:
    • Do you want to be right or do you want to get along?
    • Do you want to make this person your enemy?
Rabbit / Ian had every opportunity to reverse direction, make peace, smooth things over. He could have said right off the bat with earnestness: Hi, I kind of feel you guys are poking fun at my board. I hope this isn't the case. This techboy guy isn't representative of us.

No one would have given Ian a hard time had he be sincere. Solderdude / Frans to my knowledge has always had a stellar reputation here. Ian could have built a bridge of mutual understanding. He could have even directly called me on my shit: Well, I'm friends with Frans / Solderdude, I didn't think it was fair that you said the Ember was shit. This is how real dialogue starts - keep in mind I never had a problem with diyah - that is until now. The fact that Ian went back and edited his posts with a "." (full texts were later restored by an admin / mod), is telling. He was here to wage war with a perceived enemy. It doesn't have to be this way.

So basically at the end of these two days, I now have these thoughts at the back of my mind: people closely associated with Garage 1217 are nuts, one admin at DIYAH is scary crazy, and maybe Frans is nuts too. I can try to cleanse this off, or wash it off, but being a human, it doesn't work. Going forward, I will still try be objective with Garage 1217 (I think I was fair on my recent assessment of the Horizon amp), but still I am human. And @Mshenay: why put these kinds thoughts into someone who is considered divine by many others? Why piss off a dorky god who has legions of sycophants, lemmings, disciples?

@zerodeefex don't waste your time reverting the edits,[/QUOTE]

I do this all over the forum, not just about this. The people who run this forum are my friends. I hold them to a higher standard than others and so I make sure that edits revert if dumbassery occurs and history is removed.

Edit: Also, anyone who deifies Marv is missing the point of this place.

I'd never suggest sticking fingers back in the fire. One can wash the muck off, doesn't mean going back for more. Shit still stinks.

And... overdosing on metaphors is not too healthy either

Ian/Rabbit and Solderdude had a couple of run-ins at Changstar. And now it seems Ian/Rabbit has issues with SBAF now.

I always liked Solderdude, and expected him to join SBAF. I know he is an admin at DIYAH, but that did not prevented him from participating at CS before. I though he was well respected at CS. I believe he earned that respect. So I was surprised not to see him in SBAF.

I didn't interact with Rabbit as much. But my impression of him is that he could handle himself well if he wanted too. He just didn't want to. And I attributed that to having a special and conflicting interest with running his DIYAH forum.

I've been reading Ian's posts in this thread I can't say things have changed. He seems to interact in a intelligent and eloquent way, and then things go down south:

Ian/Rabbit, I know you read this forum so here are my thoughts:

SBAF has given HF and Jude hell of a lot more shit that DIYAH and you.

And you do bitch about HF "behind their backs" as well:

    http://diyah.boards.net/thread/1551/headfi-new

You also bitch about SBAF "behind their backs":

    http://diyah.boards.net/post/19944/thread

You even seem to have created DIYAH as a response to both HF and CS/SBAF:

    http://diyah.boards.net/post/19382/thread

It is obvious, based on your last quoted response above, that you hold resentment towards @Marvey and this forum as a whole. Note however, than @Marvey (and other admins) have not joined DIYAH to call you a "rude and arrogant dork". It's like going into someone's house you don't like, and take the liberty to shit all over it.

As far as Z reviews. They are shit. That is my opinion. That does not mean that everybody in SBAF or outside has to agree with me.

EDIT: BTW, I don't think SBAF and admins (myself included), hold similar resentment towards DIYAH. I have visited actually. It's nice. Keep up the good work.

Seriously dudes, y'all are taking this forum business way too seriously if you're getting your knickers in a knot. I think the only time I've ever gotten even mildly annoyed around here is when I wanted to throw a physics textbook at Bill because he was attempting to violate Newton's 2nd and 3rd laws.

Read stuff about this silly hobby, use your feelings to filter things you like/dislike, use your brain to filter things you should/shouldn't say, then take a moment of time to evaluate whether hitting the post button is going to add anything to the useless rabble before you. Rinse and repeat.

I agree with a lot of the stuff Marv says. I disagree with some of it too. Do I feel the urge to call him out on it? Nope. Will I make some statements that express my differing opinion in a non-confrontational way? Well golly gee that sure sounds like a reasonable course of action doesn't it? I said my peace, I don't think there was ever a counter argument, not would it be warranted. We're two separate schmucks on the internet exchanging words on gear.

Stay classy folks, and keep your sticks on the ice.

Yep, totally like the ex-girlfriend. You run into her in a restaurant or something and she goes bat shit crazy yelling profanity at you and calling a sorry ass piece shit. And then just to piss her off you say (with a serious expression), "did we go out?" Yeah, I had that happen a few times, unfortunately. But the Craig dude was a lot like that.

Have we really become popular and have some influence? Really? I feel as unpopular and inconsequential as ever. Maybe even more so. I guess among other headphone nerds that we might be just a little tiny bit popular. Like the nerd that the cheerleader kisses in the closet but then says, "if you ever tell anyone I'll punch you in the face." And she would...yep.

I for one would like to concede that this whole damn thing is Marv's fault. He called the Ember a turd three times consecutively and with vigor. The direct quote was like, "the ember is a turd, a turd, a turd."

Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep the maple train contained? Sometimes I have half a mind to crosscheck you buncha hosers and pull your jerseys over y'heads and toss ya in the box for a timeout.

    @Armaegis *piece (/noise)

Part of the reason for Mshenay's aggravation seems to be the fact that, yes, lots of people seem to look up to Marv and forget that he's as likely to screw up as any of us. Brings up interesting talking points. Perfectly understandable, but the dude doesn't wear his balls on his sleeve or whatever. Still, his deification, and that of others such as zerodeefex, Bill-P, Hands, ultrabike, brencho, and Torq (Digital Jesus rest his SBAF account) stems from the fact that few people have experience with as much gear as these same senior members (among a plethora of others) do, and the sheer amount of involvement many of the above-mentioned have in product development (e.g. Massdrop) is just shit-your-shirt awe-inspiring.

Also, some of the more prolific of the above have sonic preferences that newer members think THEY should like as well, because said preferences sound perfectly reasonable spelled out in, er, blue/grey on dark blue: high resolving capability with a reasonably euphonic signature— if you don't like that then something must be fundamentally wrong with you or your hearing! Hell, I get drawn into that sort of thinking even though I actually don't mind the Anax-modded (f**k I said his name) HD800's comparative treble-stabbiness. Idol worship is easy to fall into, and that's pretty much what this is when distilled and made into an attar. Happens when fora such as this increase in following.

Most SBAF members may not have individually grown in influence, but I notice the site has certainly grown much more lively of late, and GDI I only signed up in February. People are learning that not every product released by a "reputable" manufacturer is gonna be the best thing since internet porn*, and the pissed off voices on here are refreshing; the fact that the impressions are about as uniform and reliable as you can get short of demoing shit yourself is just icing on the adobo**. As has been noted, this seems to be causing other people online sufficient degrees of consternation, enough so that they are driven to (passive) aggressive behaviour. Price of fame, haters gonna hate, skaters gonna skate***.

    (/solipsistic socio-culturally-savvy sophistry)

... But really, I'm a fan of open communication, which is why I love it here. If you have a problem with someone or something, don't keep it bottled up lest you back up your GI system and diarrhea goes out the wrong end, which is pretty much what happened in this thread.

*BTW Philippine access to PornHub is blocked, government seems to want monopoly on f'ing people over. Yeesh.
**Please don't actually put icing on adobo, that's just weird. Or is it? Hmm.
***Ice hockey looks cool (hah), wish more people here were into that sorta stuff but eh, tropical country.
