I was considering buying hd650 (again). I own lcd2 and hd800, also wanted to see how q701 and k712 compare (I had q701, was really happy with them, sounded very very similar to hd800, gifted them to friend cause I couldn't stand the bumps. Also as far as I can tell, 712 are the only ones of the lot that have no bumps).

So I did these comparisons using headroom's raw response only, to kind-of see the general tonality and what to aim for when trying EQ's. I superimposed the Harman's curve on top of these so you can see how these measurements compare against it. As far as I can see, they are kind of similar to Tyll's.

Also added some beats and apple buds in the mix. I use re400, rha ma750 and custom modded bt 4.40 (will post pics etc) for on the go, a friend compared the re400 with apple buds, and said that the buds have better bass (though we agreed that there's no real comparison in clarity and general quality). hmm.

So far, I really don't like the Harman's curve bass boost.

I think I perfer hd800's diffuse field tonality with some reduction in 6khz energy for classical and environmental stuff, and lcd2 for everything else (kind of like harman but with linear bass). Stax SR-l700 apparently measures weird but that thing is amazing.

Keep in mind the vertical axis is a free variable in this kind of graphs so take them with some care. K712 is significantly warmer than HD800.
Late K702 is bumpless too. Closer to HD800 in terms of tonal balance but still slightly fuller sounding, more forward in the 2kHz region and less extended in the treble.
K712 sounds more focused and incissive to my ears relative to the bigger and more diffuse K702.

HD650 is warmer than K712, more cohesive and softer in terms of presentation.

I know, and I agree. Just thought someone might find these useful, maybe.

Also, thx about the info for the k702 bumpless. It's just that I -- think -- q701 would be better for me, didn't have the opportunity to check k702 and q701 side by side
