Also, if you guys have never tried Westy's, there are two sites to visit:
    Belgium in a Box
    Etre Gourmet

Both places are reputable, Kurt from BIAB is very accommodating as well. Just putting it out there, if you guys ever want to do a group buy, that can probably be arranged. I am estimating around $20-25 for a bottle with a priority shipping box included. Around $10-13/bottle, $10 - 12/shipping, a medium FR box will probably hold 3-4.

Otherwise, I recommend grabbing Belgian lambics with your order to make shipping worth it.

    @jexby looking at you lmao.

This is what my buddy ended up bringing back for me. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I shared some with my wife and she said it gave her flashbacks to when she was stationed in Germany. She said a lot of the German beer she tried was of a similar style.

Anspach & Hobday The Stout Porter (8.5%)

I purchased a selection of Porters from my local beer emporium. So far, so good.

Beavertown - Smog Rocket - Smoked Porter 5.4%

Checking out their website, some of their brews make them quite certifiable i.e...
Tropigamma; Tropical IPA brewed with lactose, pineapple, mandarin, papaya, passionfruit, guava, mango and lime juice.

I actually had some of "The Kernel" brewer when I was in Port Rush. I had a few of their IPA's - Pretty solid stuff - especially compared to what is available in Ireland. Corona and Bud Light are pretty popular there. "Imports" are cool right - LOL

Buddy brought me a growler from a local brewery. I though it could pull double duty...

Tried the Asahi at work. Better than a cold Heineken and a smooth drink.

Did a slow cook BBQ today and my buddy handed me this little gem...

Fruity, good malt and a bit of a kick. I'm usually a mid 7s ABV, so this slowed me down a touch. Not bad.

    Here is my Thanksgiving brew

    6A834BBA-1CFE-46A8-9CEA-EDA80C2E0373.jpeg

The cucumber is a bit subtle but its there. It doesn't taste like the crisp inside but more like the bitter skin. I enjoyed it.

Here in the Chicago beer world, Black Friday means lining up early to get bottles of Bourbon County Stouts, especially the rarer variants. I got a coffee variant and 2 regulars. But missed out on Proprieters (Chicago only release, Bananas Foster flavor profile) and Reserve (KY and Chicago only, aged in Knob Creek barrels).

I managed to get a few bottles of Dogfish Head 120min IPA

I normally don't go for IPA, but when an IPA hater tells me to buy this one, I listen.

Question about beer aging, what temp should you do it? Is it similar to aging wine or should I keep it in the fridge?

Depends on the beer. In general, you want to drink hoppy beers as fresh as possible. Doubly true for the hot New England IPA style (unfiltered IPAs with little bitterness and a more juicy flavor profile-their names are often a play on juiciness or haziness, such as Julius or Cumulus), where hops fall off even more quickly. 120 Minute is a bit of the exception, though with age it resembles a barleywine more than an IPA, and it is already very very malty for an IPA.

Beer flavor profile will change less if you keep it in the fridge. If you want to see how it changes over time (especially popular for sours, stouts, bottle conditioned and barrel-aged beers), then cellar it like you would a wine. For a lot of the big, particularly barrel-aged stouts, most people buy one to drink fresh and 1 or more to age to see how the flavors change over time. Some things will mellow, others will mature. And it is good to know what flavors fall off quickly (in stout terms, that's 1+ years). Coffee and coconut come to mind as falling off quickly.

    Hope this helps!

Just opened the 120 min IPA referenced a couple posts back. Damn this is good. I can taste the hops but not the bitterness. Definitely an IPA for IPA haters. The 16% alcohol sneaks up on you for sure. This is a dangerous drink.

I have a couple more bottles that I'm aging to see how they turn out, but i just might drink them before they have time to age.

Just picked up the 2017 BCBS and Founders CBS. Not sure how long I should let these sit. I've had them fresh before, but have only aged BCBS a couple years. It probably could have waited even longer.

got two of each? drink 1, age 1. I skipped BCBS and CBS completely this year for the sake of saving more money for Belgian sours. I had tried the '17 with a few friends and I didn't taste that much barrel on it but it was still good. I think I rated it around a 4.5/5.

Here's our killshot for that night. Personal favorites of mine include Side Project's Merci (drinks like a saison but tastes like lambic), Jester King's Montmorency vs Balaton and an Upland Sours Paw Paw.

I don't know if any SBAFers are from St. Louis, MO. Some parts were a bit sketch but Perennial and Side Project are totally worth it. Here's a shot that I took in one of the Side Project locations. Arguably one of the BEST breweries in the country or even the world.
