Why would you sell your existing headphones for a product that's scheduled to ship next year?

 

To add to @JustAnotherRando's question, why would you do that for headphones you've yet to hear?

And now lets speak serious - I'm very thankful for a credit of trust you gave me. Every day several people are working on Verums and through updates i'm trying to show you progress.

 

To everyone asking why I sold my other headphones: I didn't want the others any more. Plain and simple. They didn't get any use anymore, I still have m1060s but I also plan to sell those as well. Regardless I wanted some new equipment and to weed out the old stuff. I'm hoping the verums will curve the craving for anything else, but we all know that's probably never possible. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AFAIK, the first batch will be comprised of 600 units, so more than 50 more than the total number of backers, just in case. And if you really want that SBAF logo or whatever gesture of gratitude @Garuspik chooses, just say it when it comes to pick the color scheme, I guess.

 

I would totally dig the black/zebrano scheme, even black-on-black like Massdrop releases, but that has to be DIY, unfortunately.

What I expect is people will eventually print some fazors, and hopefully make them available for the community. No matter how great these sound, IMHO they are bound to be the new Fostex T50RP in terms of modding possibilities, mark my words.

As always, it only takes a few (basement-living ;-)) 3D-printer-trigger-happy, pad-rolling-addicted, heavily-skilled autistic audiophiles to start the frenzy.

Hahaha, good point, but what I like about SBAF is that you don´t exactly fit the good-mannered type, if it ever existed...

 

Well, would you rather think their meal is shit, or think it's the best thing you've ever tasted? At the end of the day it's all about personal experience.
A bad base can taste terrible even with additions, a great base can blow your taste buds to the Moon with additions.

 

I'm hoping to like them right out of the box, but even if I do I still intend at the very least to do a pad roll and see how the sound changes. Modding isn't saying I don't like them imo, it's saying I like them enough to spend time dialing them in.

Honestly, as long as they don't bore me I'm golden. I placed my order because I heard they made otherwise dull music sound alive and we're built like a tank.

I sold my other headphones because they were either cheaply built, didn't excite me, or had offensive frequency responses. From what I heard, the verums will have none of these issues. I took the gamble, but it feels more like an investment than a gamble.

 

This is the only time in this hobby that I also do feel it is an investment rather than a cost.

 

Why won't you just paint them? That's what i am planning to do. All black, no fuss.

 

Because plastidip would peel off if I ever feel like reverting it to stock colors.

 

Paint dip is what I am going to do at first. Unless he agrees with sending me white, unpainted, which I prefer because I can just spray mate black without regrets.
