Just out of curiosity, what music do you listen to that hits brown notes below 20 hz?

That's just testing and measuring, haha. The faulty side refuses to reproduce ANYTHING below like 70Hz or something dumb like that. Like no matter how heavy I slam the EQ and volume, it just does not reproduce it at all. Almost like someone installed a high pass filter. It's incredibly annoying if you listen to electronic music with deep kicks, because you hear the thumping in one ear only.

Looking inside, there's absolutely no damping between membrane and magnets. Any other ideas? I think it's also louder than the working driver, and has a bit more midrange "spiky" behaviour.

Edit: I feel like maybe it's a leak in the baffle or even the membrane. What happens if there's a tiny little hole in a membrane like that? :p

    Strange things.

You can change the low frequency behaviours of chifimans quite substantially by adding or removing vents, but I've never had it affect things to the extent you're experiencing.

I do believe it depends on manufacturer. Let’s discuss real problems if they will happen. As far as I know none of Verums that I’ve sent across the world had technical problems. I hope that will be the same with all of them.

No. There are planars from the 70's still working perfectly today! This is a matter of companies valuing cheap production over QC. I don't think we need to worry about that here.

Edit to avoid being too much of a pain in everyone's ass:

I received mine! The box looked like shit, so I feared the worst, but the bubble wrap did the job. They look exactly like the pictures in terms of materials and finish. The bubinga finish looks better than on the pics however, it has a deeper look to it and a nice classy gloss.

Everything is nice and smooth to the touch, and works very well. I have one minor complaint, which is that the pleather ring glued to the headband knobs doesn't stay in place that well. It started coming off when I tightened it. I'll glue it if it becomes an issue.

The headband angle and width/clamp joint can be rotated by hand without loosening it, so you set your clamp and let it conform to your head. easy.

Pads are great, and I'll be comparing them to others etc... But I don't think I'll need to change them. They're some of the nicest pads I've tried!

Now for the main course: They sound fantastic! Measurements are irrelevant in this respect, and I haven't measured them. They just sound warm and rich and transparent, with a glittery treble when the music calls for it. Very neutral sound really, with bass that thumps while staying balanced and clean, smooth mids... These sound like what I imagine perceived flat to sound like. True measured flat isn't flat to a human, but these are. It's something to do with the treble. Hifiman HE 4XX has a "sucked out" sound in the lower treble while these are so open and "filled in".

Regardless of how the measurements end up looking, I can tell you these are really good. REALLY good.

Just arrived .First impression is excellent build quality, ease of adjustment, very comfortable. On first listening, detail, and soundstage are the first things that stand out.I will now do some detail listening sessions. Being new here, if this is in the wrong section, or inappropriate, I am sorry, and please remove.

Thank you, don't forget to detail your chain and comparisons to other gear on your next impressions.

I'm glad that first customers received their units and aren't disappointed. Hope that will make others relax and they'll stop writing me in pm "where is my tracking" :D
And if we're talking seriously - i'm very thankfull to community that beleived to a guy from Ukraine that've never even shown his face that after half a year after payment he'll eventually send something simillar to headphones

Somehow, it was obvious, right from the start, that you were/are the real thing.

I would have liked to have been one of those supporters just because of that. But, you know how it is: limited funds, other priorities. The usual story!

Everybody knows that there is a huge distance between several prototypes and a serial production. Even If I'm real a chance that some random DIYer dude will make everything right with such manufacturing process isn't very high ;) But i have a pretty big non-audio manufacturing background.

Support doesn't equals to money pledges. So I sincerely say thank you for support.

Somewhere in a bag with ~ 100 post receipts and next week I plan to sort them and tell backers their tracking numbers. I guess you're early bird with carbon texture? Those were shipped a little bit later.

Can we take a second to appreciate this cable? It's a really nice soft and light cloth cable. Magnificent.

I had my reservations but it was not about you, but about doing business in Ukraine in general.

I don't care where an individual is from as long as he can supply credible information.

On a side note, does anyone have any recommendation for non Chinese connectors for custom cables?

Here's a thing to think about: those ear pad mounting rings are kinda sharp. I might just sand the edges on mine.

I tried Brainwavz XL microsuede pads. Sounds promising as a cloth alternative for people who get sticky from pleather, though I have to listen more to be sure.
