I can see you care about your paint. Nice job! Agree that automatic car washes with brushes are evil. In the end, the only way to keep your car looking great is to put some time and effort into it .

For some reason, wife thinks I’m considering an A7. Not sure where she got that idea. All I’ve said is I’m getting an Audi...

    File this away under #FirstWorldProblems

Sadly, life interfered with my car buying plans. My little company is being acquired, and I've received signals that my compensation plan is likely to change. I've had some experience with these changes in the past, and changes usually lead to a higher hurdle to clear before cashing in on one's variable compensation package. With that in mind, being a cautious person on all things money-related, and STILL needing a new car (I mean, my 2007 Altima has almost 190K on it and is better suited as a 3rd car), I chose not to proceed with the S5 and ended up getting a new Acura TLX A-Spec with V-6 and SH-AWD. Sure, it isn't an S5, but it is a fun car and a significant step up from my Altima (even if I could turn back time and miles and bring the 2007 Altima back to 50 miles on the odometer). Of course, I'm a little disappointed, but I feel I made the more sensible financial choice while making acceptable sacrifices on the fun factor.

I'll have a much, much lower monthly payment, and when all is said and done, I will have spent $27K less. I'm still getting the front end and other at-risk areas covered with protective film, and my wheels and entire car surface will be ceramic coated (along with getting the windows tinted). The new TLX is gonna be, in the words of my oldest son, "BOSS." lol... I guess that's good.

For what it is worth, over the past several weeks, I test drove an A5 and 330i xDrive, and came to the conclusion that their price premiums over the TLX were hard to justify in my value/fun decision matrix. The S5's $$ premium over the TLX was, in my mind, justifiable, but I just didn't have the warm fuzzies about my comp to be comfortable pulling the trigger.

Upon reflection, I'm so blessed to be where I'm at, so to mope around and be a Disappointed Danny just comes across as self-centered and unbecoming.

Oh, and smaller monthly payment = more money to spend on music. So there is that!

For what it's worth, I drive an S4 and love it. It's a 2014 so V6 + supercharger. My wife steals it constantly.
