Thanks! I purchased one about 40 days ago for $449 and submitted price rewind from my credit card!

Since there's such few comments on these online - Interesting headphones. I easily prefer them to the HE-560 (not saying much). They definitely have a sound more like the HE-560 in terms of 'weight' of sound - i.e. it doesn't have the stax sound of the Edition X, HE1000, etc.

Tuning is definitely closer to the original HE-5 than the HE-5 "Reissue they did". I did end up swapping the pads out for some Focus-A pads to bring the treble a bit down.

Not sure what's up but tons of modern made vinyl for decent prices today at Walmart and Amazon, look up on vinyl deals reddit. I dont see much rhyme or reason to what is on sale but some gems in there for sure.

I picked up a copy of Cure Disintegrarion for store pickup around 14 bucks.

Apogee Groove (New) $200~ (normally $300)
    Apogee Groove (Factory Refurbished) $150
Apogee Groove 30th Anniversary Edition (Gold/Silver) $300~ (normally $600, has slightly better specs)

    https://apogeedigital.com/store#hifi-listening (all 3)
    https://www.adorama.com/l/?searchinfo=apogee+groove (New & 30th AE)
    https://www.amazon.com/Apogee-GROOV...apogee+groove&qid=1556859823&s=gateway&sr=8-1 (New only)

These are current Drive USB DAC/Amp for high impedance headphones. Do not use them for multiple BA IEMs without iFi IEMatch. Also does not work with iOS devices without external battery connected using usb splitter.

This is a PSA, not a deal. I just noticed that Schiit has new Black Bimbies in stock, in case anyone wants that color.

    https://www.schiit.com/products/bifrost

Interestingly enough, silver is not in stock; only black is in stock.

For anyone looking for a new Sony NW-ZX300* might be interested in DROP's (formerly Massdrop) current offer of $470.

    https://drop.com/buy/sony-nw-zx300a-digital-audio-player

Edit - just noticed this is a "300A" - so only has 16GB built in, but still has the expansion slot for a microSD so you could boost the memory easily, adding in 64GB for under $20...

@JK47 I know this is cheaper somewhere, where though? I want to make sure people see that this price is bad.

Use the force (google)... China (joybuy), or get a 64GB version from Japan (Amazon) for $525ish and no graffiti on the back.

I have absolutely zero confidence in joybuy based on the horror stories I've seen about them not even shipping purchased items, false advertising, lack of customer service, refusing to issue refunds, or allowing 3rd party merchants to flat out defraud customers of their money.

    Change my mind.

Understand the push-back, but Joybuy doesn't have them in stock (I did check - https://www.joybuy.com/product/600192296.html) and no other seller came up in the Google search I performed before posting with a lower price for the 300A, and the lowest I saw for the 300 was AccessoryJack at $550 (with free shipping), and thought some might want to spend $470+$15 (for SD card), which was still more than 10% lower than $550. Didn't see the Amazon.co.jp deal you mentioned above. Cheers

PS - @JK47 What's the graffiti on the back? Picture on Massdrop shows what looks to be a "blank" back. [IMG]

Viva Tubes is my go-to 'named' dealer for NOS these days as they keep a wide stock, ship quickly, can get special order stuff within reason and have comparatively reasonable prices. They also do specials fairly often.

Uuuuugh, spoon feeding is a dirty job but someone has to do it.

The Chinese ZX-300A has a sticker on the back, apparently the "Drop" version does not. To some people this sticker is an issue, desecrating the Sony's sexiness.

    11403185_st_thumb.jpg

OMFG I had to actually click onto the second search page to find this deal from a Sony store in China... $400 to California

    https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https://item.jd.com/5451938.html

Looks like Amazon Japan is not shipping the ZX300 to the USA atm. I was wrong on that front, even though I purchased mine from them last year.

I still don't think the Drop price is a deal regardless of how you want to slice it, not to mention the expected ship date of June 19, 2019. I bet a fella or gal would be able to source it sooner, and less if the time was taken to look around, rather than making an impulse buy.

Which also appears to be out of stock...
(at least when I clicked that link)

Totally agree! Caveat emptor, YMMV, etc.

Thanks for the spoon-feeding - I'm nice and full now.

Since I'm in China, I did some search on local site, the price of ZX300A could be around 2300 RMB, the currency rate is around 6.78, so 2300 / 6.78 = $340. Shipping item with lithium battery to US could be about $50, so $390 in total, and it would cost less than a month in total. And there are some said-to-be-nearly-new ones for 2000 RMB which are about $290 - $295.

But I don't understand how can this player be so much cheaper in China, considering the tax and things...

Wonder if these prices take into account the newly announced tariffs? ;)

Maybe, but normally consumer electronics are way more expensive in China, increased tariffs still can't fill that gap. I guess it could be because of the competition of those Chi-fi players? Never mind...
