I hate this show. Genuinely one of the worst and most pathetic episodes of television in recent memory.

Not enough screentime for proper plot development and pacing? Well let's put more focus on High School Musical: Winterfell edition.

Like seriously, what the f**k? Is there a single character who hasn't been butchered by the writing?

Arya and the Hound at this point are the only redeeming characters on this show. Honorable mention goes to Sansa.

Am I the only one who thought the production dialogue editing and ADR mixing were particularly sloppy this last episode? Especially the first 20 minutes. The high-pass filtering applied to the lav tracks was particularly heavy-handed, and the ADR had lots of proximity effect that wasn't well addressed with EQ and verb to match the production sound. Lots of cartoonishly hot hard FX too.

Normally I watch GoT with the built-in speakers on my partner's TV - sounds better at her place because the quality is too poor to notice these flaws, whereas they were actually distracting at home.

Definitely felt hastily put together in general, and it's clear the post-production audio team got the short end of the timeline.

 

It's actually only the second to last book that he's writing currently: The winds of Winter. After that comes out, I'm sure it will be 6 to 10 more years until a Dream of Spring. He's too f'ing busy doing other projects.
Edit: he hasn't been involved deeply in the show for at least two seasons.

 

Wow didn't know that! What's unfortunate, really, is that he may very well pass away before finishing up the writing.

I truly hope that doesn't turn out to be true. I really do. And I'm more than sure he wants to have a legacy that includes a complete written series.

 

That happened with Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time, but he was a prolific writer.

 

I envy you, that this would be one of the worst television episodes you've ever seen. There is some truly garbage shit on TV.

 

I'm guessing that "the Valonqar" from the prophesy is going to be Jamie. It's about the only way he can redeem himself at this point.

 

Starbucks does taste burnt, so it's pretty on brand actually.

I liked this episode. The "high school musical" stuff between characters is the good part of the show for me. They've managed to set up some interesting conflicts with real consequences for Team Stark vs. Team Targaryan. Now I *really* don't know what will happen. My guess is that Dany wins the throne, but turns out to be just as terrible as her father.

The dragon death was honestly surprising, but I can't get too emotionally invested in some CG getting killed by other CG. It's just not working for me.

The logistics of the skiff capture are murky. But what I really don't understand is how people on this show are adept swimmers in thick layers, boots, and armor. Remember when Jaime bailed into fairly deep water in full battle armor last season and survived?

 

Yeah, one of them is gonna do the other. (It's always been one kind of doing or another).

 

Oh boy Ghost is still alive... And Jon immediately goes to ditch him. He is probably used to it after Jon went dragon riding.

They lost one dragon and already losing another.

Brienne/Jaime relationship feels awkward and they just don't have chemistry.

Looks like they wrote Dany to start resembling her dad and wants to burn everyone in her way.

Sansa kept a secret for like 5 minutes.

Every episode they stray further away from the source material and just want to write it so they can just wrap up the series.
