HBO seems to be on a hurry to "gracefully" dump the show.

Unlike writers like Rowling that are consistent and in control of their stories, Martin is unreliable and tends to lose control of his stories.

He has been critized for this, only to come back saying "George R. R. Martin is not your bitch". Which means HBO got fucked.

The quality of the latest shows is the fallout of this.

That said, the HBO staff are doing the best they can given:
    1. No story from Martin.
    2. No support from produces and HBO decision makers on completing the show on their own.
In reality I don't blame HBO or their staff. As it is, the books are probably going to go a very different direction than whatever story HBO picks up. It's a clusterfuck.

HBO could pursue their own story under a different title all together, but the topic is a bit consumed.

I'll still watch the last two episodes though. It was entertaining. And not necessarily because of Martin. HBO did a great job rendering the first books and doing the best the can to wrap this shit due to George Martin's diva complex.

I’ve resigned myself to not expect the great writing and pacing of the first couple of seasons. I find it cathartic but still a little disappointing. Regarding them trying to dump it; George R.R. Martin said that the spin-off (prequel) looks too be in full swing. That miffs me a little being as either HBO didn’t want his thoughts or George was just too busy with the prequel. I imagine having the last season go the the way it has, I would expect many people to think twice before continuing their subscription if their only reason was for GoT.

Nope. I subscribed to HBO for GoT and would do it again. Compared to the shit that is currently out, GoT is not that bad.

I don't necessarily blame HBO for all of this. After this and after reading the first few pages on some of George's books, I feel he is over rated. I don't like divas. Specially divas that don't produce. I'll see if I can bring myself to finish his first Ice and Fire book deal. But so far is not engaging me the way the HBO series did.

Tried to get back into the franchise with the latest book, just finished it. It has characters named Elmo, Grover, and Kermit. At least none of the dragons were named Big Bird.

I blame AT&T. Stick to f'ing over your phone customers, you aren’t good at television. I think they want to wrap this up as fast as possible so they can start work making money on the prequel. This show is tapped out.

Danys is going apeshit, just like her dad the Mad King. Doesn't she have green eyes?

I think it's Jamie's destiny to kill Cersei. The witch's prophecy must become true. Or maybe it will be the imp, but the imp already killed their dad. Seems it is better to have Jamie kill her though as proper amends for his sins.

No One will kill Danys to prevent the entire city from being destroyed, just as Danys dad tried to do.

Maybe Arya will kill Cersei using Jamie’s face. Seems like something GRRM might come up with.

So does the Hound kill the Mountain, or is that too predictable as well? Maybe burns him or something poetic?

I don't think prophecies that originate from the books have any weight, at least in the TV series. My guess is that they both die, together, as part of some bittersweet type of reunion. Seems in line with the 'always a Lannister' angle the show has been steering towards.

Don't think they're gonna let Arya score another major kill. My guess is that Dany survives. Things have been turning against her 2 fast 2 furious, and we all know the the writers love for cheap shocks and subverting expectations so...

Arya's going to be involved somehow. Has to be. The fate of their characters seem intertwined.

    Good point. Makes sense.

Also agree that the book prophecies don't mean crap anymore. Azor Ahai taught us that!

Maybe Danys will explode into a ball of flame and take out everyone in the throne room.
Everyone then dies except for Phasma's page.

Cersei has green eyes, the Targaryens have purple eyes, though they didn't bother in the show.

Jon will kill Dany to stop her from going mad. Call it a hunch. He seems like a goody two shoes so his sense of justice won't allow a slaughter to happen. And why else would they do that cheesy romance plotline between the two? It would be the show writer's easiest way of "tada plot twist!" and keeping up with the "unpredictability, GoT style" that I keep hearing so much about.

I think Cercei will almost win. Until she doesn't.

Meaning Dany dies. Cercei dies. Arya dies. Hound dies. Varys dies. Jamie dies. Tyrion dies. Drogon dies. Cercei's homeless consigliere dies. Unsoiled El Jefe dies.

But Jon lives. Bronn might actually survive too.

Call it HBO wants the show death.

(Of course the writers can go the Sesame Street way, they way they went in the battle of Winterturd. It is what it is.)

The expectations for S8 is simply too high.
The publics wants big battles and there is simply too little behind the scene politics that made its so captivating in the first seasons. I did enjoy the little conversation between Tyrion and Varys.

I think that Jamie will probably kill Dany/Cercei. (Mad-queen slayer). Both of these woman are becoming more unhinged all the time. Would like the Hound/Mountain battle, although I think Arya will probably get to kill the Mountain in the end.

I can’t believe that no one has hired the Faceless Men to take out Cersei at some point. I know why it hasn’t been in the script...but logically someone would have by now.

D&D had to freestyle their way through the last two seasons, and they have failed at it for the most part. It's like two randos finishing the Lord of the rings because Tolkien died in an alternate universe.

Agreed, despite all the issues this is still appointment viewing as far the missus and I are concerned. But that is much more a testament to the great characters that have been developed over the earlier seasons... we just have to see how it all plays out. It's clear though that this will come nowhere near the quality of breaking bad... that was a fitting end to and excellent show!

The fanbase has been hyping the Hound vs Mountain fight for so long that D&D will probably deliver out of pure fanservice at this point.
