Have any of you compared the rag with McIntosh ma6900 or ma8000?

The DAC may be easier to compare more objectively but amp is very speaker dependent as you already know. I was told that it is all about system integration. One amp can sound great with the specific speaker but terrible with another so it would not be easy to compare.

And, if i understand correctly, Rag is designed to cover headphone duty as well as speaker amp and focus is heavily on headphone side whereas McIntosh is heavily focus on speaker duty with a lot more output to speaker.

If you are mainly looking for speaker amp, maybe Saga + Vidar combo might be better option?
And, you might get better response if you mention which speaker you are currently using and try to pair with? :)

Please, you can recommend the cable signal xlr, which has a better synergy with Schitt Ragnarok 1 and Schiit Yggdrasil.

considering price only is not a sound strategy in audio gear contexts in my opinion, especially in regards to cables. with that being said i like amplifier surgery and furutech cables with the rag personally.

For the raggy, they recommended me, the xlr cables: Nordost and Analysis plus.
What do you think? Which one has more synergy?

This isn’t your personal advice thread. Take home demo pairs of each, try them yourself, and report back to us what works best. And then please stop posting.

In this thread we talk about the ragnarok 1.
In fact I'm talking about this amp.
    I'm not a hifi expert.
If I were a hi-fi expert, I would not ask these questions, but I would start to make reviews and comparisons between amps, cables, ...
I still have a lot to learn.

mark47, unless there is something specific to the Ragnarok you'd like to ask, it's better to ask in the "All Purpose Advice" thread or do a search on the boards. Your XLR cable question doesn't fit here, I think.

Seriously the search on this site is very robust. It offers both a forum software search engine (top right) and for more advanced it can give you Google results (under Super Search). A lot of my own questions about the Ragnarok have been answered by searching this site or even googling outside of SBAF.

FWIW, from one noob to another.

More expensive cables do not always sound better. You ask for open ended advice. I tell you to get the Pangea XLR cables for $100 for your Rag 1. Then you come back and say you were recommended old Nordost or other $300 cables were good.

In this case, do what you please and stop asking for advice.

If you want the best, go for Furutech Audio Reference III. I think you can pay a rental fee from The Cable Company.

It's dumb to pay $300 for a cable for the Rag 1. For Aegir monoblocks with a good source, sure, but with Rag 1, I don't think it's worth it.

Audiophile cables are mostly strung by one of four or so companies in China. The manufacturers then brand and market the shit out of them. This is why I like the Pangea stuff. It's a close to OEM pricing and has a particular sound that I think will work with the Rag 1.

Look, just buy Nordost. Just know that no one will give you a pat on the back or confirm your purchase decision.

Personally, I think you should save up the money for a better amp.

P.S. I made adds to my post above. Pls read.

Why have you not got the hint that this is not the place to be asking advice on buying overpriced pretenious cables. That is for the general advice thread. This thread is for how those overpriced pretenious cables sound on the ragnarok. 12.5% of this thread has become dedicated to this bologne.

I wasn't talking about overpriced cables I was asking for advice on cables that have the best synergy with the rag.
Fortunately, I still have a lot to learn.

    1. The thing about "best synergy" is that it also depends upon speakers, source, and everything else. So an easy answer is impossible.
    2. The last thing anyone should worry about is cables. If you have a lot to learn, then put off cables for the time being. Buy decent quality $14 XLR cables from Amazon. The Amazon branded cables is actually very good.
    3. Rent / borrow cables from here: https://www.thecableco.com
