It's been many years since I've had the v, but I can help with some of this:

    • W.r.t. Your beyers, what's the sensitivy on them? Because the Val is made for high impendance dynamics and the power drops sharply as the transducer impendance goes down, peak is 800mw at 300 but drops to only 180mw at 50. Those beyers might just be too low impendance for it.
    • gold pins don't really matter, except that you don't need to clean the pins of you leave them in a box for years and they oxidize a bit.
    • iirc the input tubes matter more than the output tubes, sound wise.
    • pair matching won't hurt, and any tube so rare that getting a matched pair is too expensive is too expensive to put in this amp.
Not sure what's considered the best cheap tube for them now, but a pair of GE JAN 5670w with adapters for 6922, with all the trimmings, triode & pair matched, are 50 bucks from tubedepot.

    Hello

I have a Khadas Tone Board DAC which has a USB type-C connector, however my USB cable (Oyaide Continental 5S) has a type-B male connector,

The only way of using this cable for my new DAC is via an adapter, but would that reduce sound quality? Here's the adapter:
    https://www.jumia.com.eg/universal-...iation&utm_campaign=33&utm_term=&utm_content=

Note that i did only found one single adapter like that, in freaking Egypt and i live in Switzerland.

The other 2 optionss are use 2 adapters combined: USB-C male-->USB-A female, then USB-A male->USB-B female.

Or remove the USB-B connector from the cable and attach a type-C instead.

    What do you guys think?

Why not just get a USB c cable?

Also, introduce yourself in the introduction thread, and don't create a new thread for questions, use the advice thread

    Edit:
Also why does your USB cable cost almost 3 times your dac?

It doesn't cost 3 times my DAC, i payed 100bucks for the cable, i buy most of my things 2nd hand. My amp however retails for 2000, i payed it 500.

The Khadas is insanely good for the price, easily bests DACs above the 500-600 mark.

I'll keep it in mind, if needed someone can lock this thread and i'll make a new one in the appropriate category.

There are very few cable manufacturers (from what i have found) that have USB-C cables, the only manufacturer that offers a similar cable in terms of quality of materials, construction etc is from Audioquest and costs a 1000bucks.

Ok, well even so, same price for dac and cable seems a bit crazy.

Anyway, the adapter will probably reduce whatever affects the expensive cable may or may not give.

The best option would be to get a USB c cable.

And would it be possible to change the connector of the cable ot USB-C or is a USB-C cable inherently different?

It would be possible, but I believe the USB c connector would be pretty difficult to solder, as it is quite small.

e-bay UK. Nearer than Egypt. At GBP 3.95, my bet is that it will be at least as good as an Archimago D.

As to re-terminating USB cables, I expect Google knows the pinouts. But my advice is... if you you were able to do it properly, and without any risk to your equipment, you wouldn't be asking. ie. Don't.

If you think/feel/believe/hear that expensive digital upgrade cables make a substantial difference, adapters are not the best way to go...
Sell your cable and look into recent usb c offerings from audioquest or wireworld in different price and quality categories.
Since you are in Switzerland you could also check a no nonsense usb c cable from Oehlbach (which I am using at the moment as a connection from my hard disk to the server).

This thread is terrible. Buy a regular ol Belkin or Anker or Google A>C cable that's to spec and sell your $100 one.

EDIT: Merged the thread into the general advice thread.

    Sorry, Archimago C.

This sort of thing makes my cat laugh.

@Taverius and others. The EITR fixed the pop/click and noise issues for me. Plus it sounds pretty damn good.

Excuse my ignorance, but other than imager, which I don’t want to use, how are you folks posting pics directly in your posts. What’s the best way. Can find anything in search.

    Thanks.

Nothing wrong. I don’t like the format. I know there is a button for image URL’s. Need a few more details. Been drinking for more years. :p Thanks. Ah, DoorDash has arrived.

I know there's other image hosting services, but imgur is the most convenient one so I've never really looked into them.

I used to know a couple more but ... 404 memory not found.
