Yeah, the thing I like about the lorier is it does take elements of other watches, but doesn't look too much like a specific watch, it's still it's own unique thing.

Every time I wear this watch I like it more. Swatch does that (and this watch is semi-useless)...

P.S. The picture is a straight JPEG from the K5 with kit lens. I am done with testing.

I've long wanted to post this here, but never came around to taking a decent picture. Not really a collector, but I bought this vintage piece a few years ago because I felt it very much symbolizes the transitory nature of time.

Incidentally, it also bears a name that's quite prominent here on SBAF... ;)

34 mm Seiko Presage Cocktail Time limited edition of 5000:

I really like 34 mm case size watches since I have a thin wrist. Good value for a Japanese made Seiko at $475. A 34 mm new Tudor is over $2000 now; double that for a used SS mid-size Rolex. I'd rather put the money into audio than watches:) Second hand hacks and the 4R35 movement is accurate to about 10 seconds a day. Nice quality bracelet and display back. I will probably switch out for a leather band though.

I think it looks even better on a nato strap.
Less Martin Sheen Apocalypse Now vibes, more Sean Connery James Bond vibes
The watch itself is more similar to the Seiko 6109 than the Rolex Submariner though

    Also this black/tan perlon strap.
I think I got a good deal, the watch and the three straps used for $223

I was thinking of getting a Casio Digital Watch. Which models are some of the cooler ones in the market? Trying to avoid Metal Bands and the oversize sport watches. The design of the Casio F91W-1 but better built quality?

I'm actually not very big on wearing watches most of the time as I don't like having things on or around me wrists/hands. Especially don't like braclets due to the added weight, constant low grade sweat and moisture, etc (happens to me even when cold). That and I usually know what time it is within 10-20 minutes at any given moment, usually a little better. With that being said, I do really appreciate fine mechanical objects and IMO it is the one accessory men can wear at any time in almost any situation aside from a wedding ring.

Currently have a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage. Use it mostly as a work/tool watch or when I travel. Especially when I'm working hard / losing track of time and/or in different time zones (I no longer have my internal sense of what time it is) or working with my hands and can't just leave a phone lying around. I also plan on getting into diving and while I realize I will have my tank pressure gauge and a computer, a part of me always like having a "manual" or analog backup - that's where this will come in (rated 30 atm). Have a few other nato straps as well as the original metal bracelet as well. 3 complaints with it - it's bigger and thicker than I like, the red arrow on the bezel doesn't line up perfectly (it's deliberately 1 click off in the pic), and the glow part doesn't glow as long as I'd like (may be a problem when I dive more seriously - in which case I'll get a Seiko diver).

Deciding between this Omega Deville but with the blue leather strap or the Frederique Constant FC 945 (not sure on strap / case color combo yet) for casual daily wear (when I actually need to wear a watch) this year or next. Update - saw the FC, didn't like it, going with the Omega:

Would eventually a long ways down the line like either:
    1) Hard way - a Rolex Milgauss (I have a HUGE hard on for fine engraving/s) where major life events/milestones (ex: family births/deaths, previously surviving a major medical issue, etc) will be engraved on. If I get learn and get good enough at engraving by the time these things happen I'll do some of the engravings. Otherwise, all of them will be done by someone who is actually a good engraver / knows what they're doing. Downside is as mentioned above I really don't like heavy watches with metal bracelets on me.
    OR
    2) Easy way - a nice skeleton watch (also have somewhat less of a hard on for complex perpetual motion - even better when object is made of multi-colored and engraved shiny things... this would lack the personal element of an engraved Milgauss but I'd be way more likely to actually wear it often). Wouldn't necessarily be one of these, but these are along the things I like (especially the glashutte and omega) - otherwise straightforward watches with a ton of fine and textured engraving and exposed moving parts:

Lastly, I have an old Rolex Perpetual Datejust I inherited from my grandfather that I wear on special occasions (or when I want to remember him)... he wore it almost every day for 40+ years. Something I need to send to Rolex vintage service in San Fran eventually. Something I've slacked on *feels bad*. This watch is already worth more intrinsically to me than any of the above would probably ever be.

The Casio 5610 comes in a similar rectangular shape, very slightly bulkier, with the facility to sync to atomic clock radio broadcasts. There's an inverse screen option for white on black figures, looks nicer IMO. The 5610 doesn't look quite as cheaply disposable as the FW91, though it's by no means a status symbol.

I ended up putting a black bracelet on mine (similar to a metal band, but made of some kind of black plastic). I like it, but I only wear watches for international travel so it doesn't see much use.

I also have a Sinn Frankfurt, but never wear that either. Still, it's pretty.

Edit: Oh, also have a 1969 Seamaster frankenwatch on a Nato strap kicking around somewhere.

Thanks on that one! After seeing that one, I saw the GW-M5610-1BJF that looks more into my liking. But I could see the Sun being a problem on that one thou....

I do like the Casio watches that isn't too busy with too many colors at once. I like the 5610, but I think it has too many colors on the screen. Me weird.

I had the same concern with screen visibility in bright sunlight, but if wear a watch on day hikes, that's the one I'll take. I've had zero problems with viewing the screen comfortably.

Sounds like I know what to get next, the mostly black G-Shock. Do you know where did you get your band replacement?

I got the strap around ten years ago and can't remember where. But I looked around enough to trigger my memory and the keywords to search on are either "combi strap" and "composite strap" with the Casio model number.

Nice Turtle. Keep it. I kind of want an SKX since Seiko will discontinue that line but I want one with a better movement if possible for a decent price. Thinking of the SKX013.

Yeah, I was thinking of the skx, but with the older movement, and it's less unique than the mini turtle I have. Mini turtle is nice, about same size as skx unlike the bigger turtle
