First impressions with the SBooster & stock tubes.

Sounds very wide & great imaging. Stage has a very impressive holographic/operatic sound. Sounds signature is not very smooth though & it is tipped a little too bright. At louder volumes, bass begins to clip noticeabley. Everything have a nasty gargling sound to it. Complex passages completely break apart. There is this nasty crunchiness to the drums & bass. My immediate thought was that the tubes probably were probably bad, e.g. poorly matched, low lifespan, gas or leaks.

I switched to a pair of Telefunken E188CC & sure enough, that nasty gargling/crunchy signature was completely gone. Complex passages no longer sounded jumbled or broken apart & there was no clipping. The sound signature was also much smoother & focused, Maybe also a bit more intimate. It still retained a bright sound signature overall.

Overall it went from sounding very suspect to one of the better amps I've heard!

I later changed the SBooster to a Uptone JS-2 power supply & the sound signature noticeably became clearer, more precise & cleaner. Complex passages were even easier to distinguish & I felt the sound added a little bit of more weight to it.

With that combo, this was easily on par with the best amps I've heard.

Going to try a few different tubes combos & power supplies later.

I'll be sending it back tomorrow morning.

I'll try to throw in a extra pair of tubes, because the stock ones I think were going bad & were the cause of the sound distortions.

Received from @Thenewerguy009. @E_Schaaf will you be needing this back by a certain timeframe, or is this loaner going to go a similar way to the Euforia?

No rush on getting it back - feel free to hold it until there's further interest if you're enjoying it.

Friendly bump. I'll put in a fresh pair of tested and matched tubes. Thanks to those who have participated so far.
