JK47 recommended this. Has been on my list a long time. Hats off, this anime makes you cry inside. When you get to the end and Alfred cries, damn...

P.S. That battle between the RX78 and the Zaku, Chris and Bernie. When you dare to write such a twist into a mecha-anime series you have guts, you have guts.

I coincidentally JUST finished this series last night. I would highly recommend it as well. The part where Al's dad says "Does he seem more mature to you? He's so quiet." Really struck a chord with me about kids that are forced to grow up too fast. Also, if you haven't seen 08th MS Team, I would add that to your list as well.

I have slowly been working my way through the entire Gundam series. All of the compilation movies that combine 50+ episode seasons into three two-hour films are quiet nice. Here is what the list looks like in case anyone else wants to attempt it:

True dedication, I tried way back in high school to marathon through a bunch of UC but only got through a few series and movies.

I finished the Gundam mission but excluded a lot of the compilation movies, western stuff like MS-IGLOO and everything to do with SEED because it's pure trash. The best main series IMO are still Zeta, G Gundam, Turn A and side stories being War in the Pocket and 8th MS Team.

EDIT: Also Production Order > Chronological Order and TV Series > Movie Compilations, especially with Zeta Gundam which appears to be missing from that list as they essentially retconned the entirety of ZZ with them.

If the reboot (whatever you call it!) of Ghost In The Shell needs a good score, I hope Yoko Kanno and Grimes team up. I am not joking (think of the definition of stand alone complex, yeah Grimes gets it).

Grimes is cool. I like her 'Oblivion' the most.

The way Origa gave the music a voice in the series was very gutsy. Every time I played an episode I let the score finish. That does not happen often. If the soundtrack puts me to sleep, a waste of time. Grimes has more guts than most of her peers and knows how to use her voice.

Either way I hope that the G.I.T.S. "reboot" is up to the standards of the original. Writing, animation and music have to be in synch or it will be a run-of-the-mill cash grab. The technology is now available to do it.

P.S. Bad C.G. animations are unforgivable. Berserk deserved better, much better. I am wary.

You said it. It's also quite inspiring to see young artists with as much potential and celebrity-free attitude as her. Maybe the new music isn't doomed just yet.

A waste of Ilya Kuvshinov's designs/art style for sure. Thankfully there's Birthday Wonderland for that.

"Vinland Saga", f**k I am hooked. That story cuts deep.

Right now trying "Inuyashiki", impressive narrative. Feels like a spiritual successor to GITS.

I been reading some Sci-Fi books that later became animu series:

Well the first book became a Five Part OVA Series back in the mid 2000s. Airplane fighters vs aliens that have shape shaping ability. Of course the novels were leagues better than the OVA, but it's hard Sci-Fi. Not for everyone, but I like the books. Middle of reading the second book.

So all ten Volumes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes Sci-Fi were translated into English by Viz. The last volume was released last month. The 110 EP OVA did a great job with adapting the book to an animu series. However, if you prefer reading the books, it is a great recommendation even if the translation might be a little weird at times.

For anyone curious, Psycho-pass Season 3 is shaping up to be an improvement over Season 2. Still not living up to the legacy of the first season, but a huge improvement over whatever the hell the second one was.

Not sure if it's correct, but there supposedly is going to be the next Castlevania season in December? Damn, what a good show this one.

A weeb light novel that is entertaining to read for low brain power. Not really my type of things to read since I'm more into older Sci-Fi or Strong Men "Manine" types. Didn't know this was a popular series until recently. Watched one Episode of Bakemonogatari which was of course based on the book I'm reading above. Book of course will have more details and more of how the main character is thinking about at the moment. Anime just feel like everything is rushing in certain parts.

Yes, Tesuka did a manga series about Adolf. So far I like it since it was written from a Japanese perspective. Last series that he completed before he passed away.

The publisher, Vertical, hasn't really been focusing on Tesuka stuff for years. I don't think any of it will be reprinted in physical books but you can get the Kindle version all day/night. That's what I been doing.

https://emanga.com/ has been picking up the Tesuka pushing rights with Kickstarter funds. Since I'm on the Kindle/e-reader format (no physical books for me), I just focus on getting the digital editions.

Oh man, the Monogatari series is one of my favourite anime shows for how over the top and ridiculous it can be, even though I honestly cringed watching some of the more idiotic sequences (sigh, Japan....). Shaft animation is pretty recognisable, it does the quirky nature of the series justice IMO. If you enjoyed that @YMO it might be good to check out another Nisioisin work, Katanagatari (yes, very uniform naming scheme haha). I've not read the light novels for either show, but instead watched the shows so I'm not sure how it'll translate, but they're both very much worth the Crunchyroll subscription :p

Also, I recently found out a stupid rom-com show I'm obsessed with is FINALLY getting a third season soon! OreGairu is a great silly teen show with some more somber moments, I really liked the first two seasons and hope the sequel lives up to them.

Did NOT know about the Hitler manga, wow. Tezuka really just did what the flip ever.
