I’m not sure what specifically was being pointed out as an issue with your original post, but we do ask that you at least introduce yourself first (before your first post) and also not to post essentially the same thing in 2 different threads. Other than this, I think your question was ok. Most people start off asking questions rather than contributing value, but eventually adding value is important to us here.

So as far as the Special Forty, I had these with Vidar and Freya and thought it was a very good pairing. You didn’t specify your listening distance or room size, or your loudness/music preferences so it’s hard to know for sure, but Aegir I think in anything but a smaller room where you are sitting fairly close might be a tricky pairing with these unless you listen at moderate volume levels. The Special Fortys do benefit from the low end grunt of Vidar to get the woofers pumping, and the S40s are also a bit dark and sweet in the highs, so I thought they paired pretty well with Vidar’s slightly forward, dry-ish treble as well.

One good thing about the S40s is that their impedance doesn’t drop below 5ohms, and mostly remains above 8ohms, so not a super difficult load for Aegir monoblocks. The main thing I would be concerned about with Aegir is running out of volume in a medium or larger room, sitting far field, just due to the insensitivity (which Stereophile measured around 84.5dB.) All that said, it’s hard to say with certainty without trying them in your setup.

You were advised once. Please stop your continued shitting in separate threads.

Passive-aggressiveness (going back and editing all of your posts) is a form of defecation.

    Advice:
    1. Stick with Vidar, unless you listen nearfield.
    2. Use with Aegir may require a sub. Aegir has less low-end grunt than Vidar.

I back edited because I figured it will all be moot once my account deletion request is serviced but noted. I found your words in the applicable threads to be very helpful. This is quite a disappointing interaction with someone who's words have come to carry weight with me since I blew my rig up. What really kills me is in my haste and harried I ended up in a seemingly required bin for delinquents. One more apology is owed and given.

I appreciate your consideration. Pretty much a dream reply for me that has assauged my concerns about my selections. I have been in near-panic mode since I destroyed my favorite part of my 2 channel system. I was and am underslept and obviously not doing due diligence for the community standards and norms when I signed up for the forums FWIW some info about the room

    1. 16'w x 20' L x 10'H with hostilely placed furniture, wall treatments, much argued over carpeting, and ceiling popcorn that I fought tooth and nail to keep while refreshing the place.
    2. Layout being what it is I am free to set the depth anywhere from 2' - 5' from the back of a speaker cabinet to the rear wall and anywhere off of the side walls I find optimal. I found the outgoing modded LSi9-s to do best about >3.5' from the rear wall. I am thinking the plugs that come with the S40-s will be put into service and I will place them closer to the rear wall for aesthetics as acoustics allow.
    3. Unfortunately, I was lucky to get my SB16 Ultra into the mix and two subs of any variety is out of the question. It sits behind my listening chair and has been parametrically tuned for the room with level, crossover, & slope set for the outgoing speakers making Aegir's low end performance less of a concern. Furthermore I am not sure how my sub is actually "wired" internally; if it is balanced, if it would handle high pass on XLR or if I would need to seek out appropriate XLR high pass in line filters... Simplest thing is to see if the Vidar satisfies which I am guessing it will and this all is academic.
Many thanks for being helpful. Your direct experience with my incoming gear has really helped put me at ease about the whole thing. I love my IEMs and cans but I will always be a stereo first kind of listener.

Getting a dedicated thread in this section for delinquents isn't a death sentence on this forum. I have one from early on in my history. It is just a chance to learn from it and better understand the vibe and protocol of SBAF. Requesting to delete your account as a form of penance is not necessary.

Thanks, bruv. I have been on the internets long enough to pluralize it and not take any of it too seriously. I'll stick to lurking here as my search queries bring me and go shit up reddit and other places. That and I don't like having active accounts on places I know I won't be (posting). My guess is the character here is going to be enough like Head-Fi, a site I lurked a fair bit but never signed up for, to where deletion makes sense.

Dislike for not lurking enough to know this forum is nothing like headfi in spirit or execution.

    They are also never honored:
    • Too much work to go into admin UI on the part of the mods.
    • Penance is better served with the temptation of an open account where self control must be exercised to just walk away from the keyboard. This penance also builds character.
    • Such a request is seen as further passive aggressiveness, considering that one can just walk away. Many SBAF members had already walked away from HF with active accounts and never turned back, except for the classifieds.
