FS: Vidars, Freya

Never thought this would happen but my current headphone setup shits on my speakers, so I want to purge all my two channel gear and start over from scratch later this year when I figure out what speakers I want.

For Friends and Contributors CONUS Only:

2xVidars SOLD - $1135 net to me (PayPal/Shipping included) - one bought brand new from Schiit in March 2019. Second bought used which was purchased directly from Schiit in April 2019. Comes with replacement packaging and power cords. These are in great condition. The two replacement boxes I just received from Schiit a few days ago with custom styrofoam molded for the Vidars. I am looking to sell both at once, not interested in selling both separately. Shipping costs ain't cheap, around $50 each, but I've already included that in my total.

OG Freya w/ quad of TungSols, quad (two matched pairs) of used RCA 5692s SOLD - $435 net to me (PayPal/Shipping included) - bought this used from a member here. Comes with original packaging, remote, socket savers and power cord. Great condition. I hate this preamp. I barely gave it an hour before I went back to my Goldpoint. I knew the problems before going into it but didn't realize just how bad it was. Maybe it'll work better in someone else's system but it ain't for me. I am not sure how many hours are on the tubes, I think the TungSols are pretty much brand new.

As far as I can tell from your posts you're a slam slut like me.

Get yourself some BWC-approved high-efficiency beater JBL L-series or 43xx built anytime before the mid-80s (or Altec from around here too), a Class A amp with a chunky power transformer (or some tubes), and sail off into the sunset. If you look hard enough you could probably get all this for as much or less than what you're selling the things for on this post.

I wouldn't mess around with most of the stuff you'll find at larger retailers. Prices too high, woofers too small.

My mistake was buying speakers online without hearing them first and not knowing what the hell I wanted or what was good. I have a much better idea now what kind of listener I am and what sound I want than when I registered on SBAF. I don't value slam as much as I thought I did. For much of last year I still liked my speakers over my headphones, but I'd rather listen to my HD650s now so something ain't right and it's clearly the speakers.

I'm doing some traveling this summer so I hope I can check out a few stores to demo some speakers.

LOL and the HE-6. Perfect setup to be immersed in slam. Convert-2 was a total waste paired with Chinese made home theater floorstanders. The speakers were not worthy.

 

TungSols had less than 100 hours on them when I sold to Rob. RCA's probably have 2-300 hours. If I were a tube monger I'd buy the Freya for the RCAs and re-sell the pre-amp. That's $300 worth of tubes right there. Sorry the Freya didn't work out for you, Rob - horses for courses.

 

Should've kept it for the new pair you'll buy, you're going to miss it.

 

I made a lowball offer on a new one and it was just accepted. Now just need to keep an eye out for a pair of monitors.
